How do I use the Spell Blacklight (pg. 67 FRC, 2001)? It sounds similar to a darkness spell (pg. 216 PHB v.3.5, 2003), but it does not give any rules on concealment. From what I am reading it sounds like I cast the spell and only the individuals 'outside' the affected area cannot see inside. Darkness offers a 20% concealment bonus to all inside so what does Blacklight do?

The spell was reprinted in th Spell Compendium.

It creates an area of total darkness, not shadowy illumination, like the darkness spell. It blocks both normal vision and darkvision. If you (the caster) are within the affected area, you can see normally within the area. However, if you are outside the spell's area, you cannot see through it.

Which essentially is the same of what is written in the FRCS ...

As you cannot see your opponent, I'd rule it much like invisibility.

You receive no cover.

But you do have total concealment.

So no bonus to your AC, but your opponent has to guess which square you're in and you have a 50% miss chance. Also when shooting out of it you're considered an invisible attacker.

Am I crazy or should, logically, the effects of Blacklight and Darkness be switched?
