03-22-07, 07:26 PM could anyone give me the specifics for the spell the starym matriarch used against coronal Eltagrim (I also have no idea what a blood dragon's stats are like so I would appreciate help there as well).

03-23-07, 08:56 AM I believe that Blood Dragons are the same thing as Styx Dragons which you can find in the Draconomicon. Since the Faerunian version of the River Styx is called the River of Blood, Styx Dragons are known as Blood Dragons in the Realms.

I am not familiar however with the spell you mention so perhaps someone else could answer that question.

03-23-07, 11:03 AM To my knowledge, most of the spells from Elminister in Myth Drannorhave never been written up officially.
Given that the spell required the death of the caster, I would suppose that the spell was at least 9th level if not epic.
You could make it by using the Summon epic seed; advance it to enough HD to summon a colossal dragon; maybe change the type of creater summoned to construct?? but if not, then dragon; bring down the casting time to 1 action, and using the caster dies mitigating factor from LEoF. With all of that, you could make the stats.

03-23-07, 07:37 PM Its not the Styx dragon, though that would admittingly make sense, it was supposedly composed literally of blood (or at least that was my impression), and could melt the flesh of the people by even casual contact, which does not tie in with the Styx dragon. I was hoping that it would be at least 9th level as was suggested but I got nothing else, I don't have access to any Dragon issues so I don't know if its detailed there.

03-26-07, 12:21 AM While I never had that particular Dragon annual, I do remember some of the details of that spell.
It was a 9th-level wizard spell that required the death of the caster to unleash a blood dragon that would do 6d12 acid damage per strike, and it lasted 1 round per caster level (or less, I can't recall). I do recall that the notes section of the spell said that it was commonly referred to by elves as "The Doom of the Purebloods," as only the mightiest nobles in a given elven House were allowed to learn the spell and it was never shared with outsiders.
Anyway, hope that helped a bit.

03-27-07, 04:23 PM it seems a little underpowered, considering it requires the death of the caster, from the way it was mentioned in the novel, it makes sense that it only lasts one round, but for what is supposedly a "great and secret spell of the old houses," its lacks a little umph.
