If your ability score for your class grants you a bonus spell slot above what you could normally cast at your level and you were able to aquire a spell known at that level, could you cast it? Example 1 - 1st level wizard with a 14 intelligence that was able to scribe a 2nd level spell into her spellbook. Example 2 - 9th level T'ien lung dragonblood sorcerer with a 22 charisma that took the feat draconic legacy and gained control weather (6th level) as a spell known. |

Anyways, this isn't anything I've considered putting into action, more of a curiosity than anything. |

Generally you only get tehm when you reach the level where you get that level spell; soa wizard with an 18 Intellegence wouldget to cast 2 Level 1 spells instead of 1 at first level and so on up through 4th level spells at 7th level. The Bard, Paladin and Ranger are the exceptions - they get the ability bonus when they reach the point where a 0 is listed. That is a ranger with a wisdom of 10 would get his first level 1 spell at level 6 but a ranger with a 12 wisdom would get that first level 1 spell at level 4 where a 0 is first listed. you can't use them for things like metamagic etc untill you get them in the first place as described above. |

You need to have at least 10 + the spell level in your casting stat to be able to cast spells of that level. Since Rangers do not have 0 level spells you'd need to at least have an 11 wisdom in order to cast a Ranger spell. |
