In a camaaign that i'm running for my party i intend to make one of my PC's a Chosen of Orcus.Since Orcus is now a god(i expect him to be after what happened in Savage Tide, at least in my campaign) he needs to establish a cult in Toril and my chaotic evil PC will become his Chosen. Now i'm thinking to make the following adjustments to his character:
0 Con +4 Cha, +2 Wis
Fast Healing 5
Undead Immunities and Vulnerabillities (except energy immunities, resistances)
Rebuke Undead (once per day as a cleric of his character lvl) and negatve healing. What do u think?Any Corrections?

He is no god* and there are surely many people running about claiming to be his "chosen".

*Abyssal Lord of tremendous power, fair enough. Just have a look into the Fiendish Codex I for his latest update, statswise.
Or has there been any info on him being a god in 4E?

He's going to ascend now because it is stated in the Savage Tide that he wishes Demogorgon out f the way and hopes to claim his realm hoping that the extra Abyssal power will give him at last the means to once again ascend to godhood.(If u consider Savage Tide canon which in my campaign i do).He has becomed the New Prince of Demons and he has a final plan to complete his ascension and this is establish a cult in Toril and here's where his Chosen comes in play and handy.Anywhay what d u think of the stats?

So essentially you think that he shall and might be a deity, but know nothing official? Whatever his status in the Abyss is does not exactly matter when it comes to divinity. For there is more to the latter than ruling the odd layer down there.

Go and ask Gothic Dan for his ideas about a "chosen" of Goatie, he's his main acolyte on here.

Zanan... I don't like Orcus. :)

I just don't let my personal feelings get in the way when discussing canon. ;)

Well, anywhay u r not helping me here:( The thing is that orcus will eventually arise once again to deityhood he just needs time.Savage Tide was one step to this goal and establishing more cults is aanother.Isn't this makes him as close to a god as any being could be?Given that he's now the Prince of Demon(if u consider Savage Tide canon which i do and also had made him the ew Prince of Demons which gives him the necessary power to become a deity) and is in control of Demogorgon's realm he has almost done it.But my question was if u agree with the statistics of his Chosen not with the idea;)

Maybe add some more stat bonuses?? Also, I suggest checking GreenElf's chosen threads, he made a couple and they're all pretty solid.

Ok how about that:Con o(as an undead), Cha +4
Undaed Immunities(except lightning and ice), fast healing 5, negative energy heals, rebuke undead (character lvl+Cha bonus 4 dmg) 3 times per day+Cha bonus, Aura of Undeath(undead within 30 ft of the Chosen of Orcus must attempt a Will save DC 10+1/2 HD+Cha or will stand awed of the Chosen and lose their turn, if succesful they just take a -2 penalty in atk, saves and skills

PS:Sry for aswering late can u give me the link to the Green Elf's Chosen topic?

-From the aforementioned thread:

I'm a huge fan of the Bloodstone series from the 2e FRCS, and with the revival of Orcus in the uber Book of Vile Darkness, who better to assist Orcus in regaining a foothold on Faerun than his Chosen. When I was first drafting the template I noticed alot of the abilities I wanted were similar or identical to the Lich template. I'm a lazy typist, thus the reference to the Monster Manual.

THE CHOSEN OF ORCUS

The Chosen of Orcus is a template that can be added to any epic humanoid or Tanar’ri hereafter referred to as “the character.” A Chosen of Orcus uses the character’s statistics and abilities except as noted here. A Chosen of Orcus has her abilities at the will of Orcus; should the Prince of the Undead decide to remove chosen status from the character, she reverts back to her original form and abilities. Normally there is only one Chosen of Orcus at a time.

Special Qualities: A Chosen of Orcus retains all special qualities of the character and also gains the attributes described in the Lich template with the following exceptions/additions:

Type: Undead – The character’s creature type changes to undead

Turn Resistance – The Chosen adds her Wisdom and Charisma modifiers to her level for the purposes of determining what HD the turning or rebuking cleric can affect.

Special Abilities – At will: Detect Undead(Sp), Detect Good(Sp), Protection from Good(Sp); 5/day – Magic Circle Against Good; 1/day - Banishment (Caster level is the character's level)

Feats – Dark Speech, Extra Turning, Empower Turning (Faiths and Pantheons), Heighten Turning (Faiths and Pantheons), Undead Mastery(Epic, must meet requirements), Intensify Turning (Epic {from Epic Insights-Epic Divine Feats}, must meet requirements), Planar Turning (Epic, must meet requirements)

Climate/Terrain: Same as the character.

Organization: Same as the character.

Challenge Rating: Same as the character +4.

Alignment: Same as the character.

Treasure: Same as the character.

Advancement: Same as the character

And the same to you!

BTW, help yourself to this fine Arcane Age novel trilogy on the fall of Netheril. It'll show you how just plain mad this Arcanist actually was. Totally nuts. Very good novels. (No pun intended, Lord Karsus ... of course.)

No wonder, since you are broke now after hoarding all that was available on the market in your secret vaults :D

-What self-serving, brilliant, arcanist leaves all his/her eggs in one nest? Nay, Zanan, I've got plenty of resources. The problem is...I can't find the books. :weep:

-I've only seen book two. I don't like buying old books in a series unless I can get all of them at once (exclusing the massive Harpers series).

-No, it wasn' me. I bet it was that punk, Wulgreth. He always held a grudge on me after I threw him in that pool of Heavy Magic, just to see what would happen.

Not exactly On Topic, but related -

Does anyone besides me think that Orcus should have been made a god of Orcs originally, instead of Gruumsh?

Maybe we'll find out in 4e that Orcus is just an Avatar of Gruumsh, just like Asmodeus is just the Avatar of the god of Evil (Ahriman?)

-I've already explained myself before. I just don't like the philosophy of "Well, it's as strong as a deity...Let's make it a deity!". Asmodeus is a Devil, a powerful Devil, and extremely, insanely powerful Devil. Let's keep him that way, without making him a deity, and thus, adhering to all of those deific rules and such.

Well, the plot in ToTNH said that Asmodeus's ultimate goal was to achieve godhood. I think he may have finally attained that in 4e as part of the storyline.

Actually, it's a ret-con of a ret-con...

In the 2e book A Field Gude to Hell, it was stated that Asmodeus was the Avatar of the primordial god Ahriman, whilst his brother god, Jazirian, became the summit of Mount Celestial (THE God?). Both of those beings were ancient, primordial powers, probably much higher then most of today's 'spherocentric' deities.

So Asmodeus being something more powerful's Avatar has already been done - in canon - two editions ago.

Strangely, Jazirian, who was supposed to be equally powerful, was killed-off in a very anti-climactic manner in the Realms.

And everything they are doing sounds exactly like the way I pictured everything - twenty years ago! :P

So now, if I can only get WotC to realize that Orcus is the god of Orcs, and Grumsh is just the god of... Grues? Then all will be right in the world. :evillaugh

-Now, what are the odds we see an explanation to that effect, rather than, "What? He was always a deity?"
