| nefestous10-17-07, 11:49 AM | There has been quite a bit of diety killing recently, and it has been my impression in faerun that strange things happen when diety die. Sometimes their bodies are left on the land, sometimes in strange forms, sometimes they just vanish. I recently found out that Mystra died. I'll say, of what i have seen so far, i like the way it is being done, considering Cyric and her have had history before. Before even becoming gods. I feel an important question has not been asked yet. Midnight (mystra) and Cyric were not the only mortals to become gods during the Time of Troubles. In fact someone else that they were both close with became a god. Someone who, if my information is correct, was in love with Mystra. I speak of Kelemvor, the current god of death (that is unless he hasn't been axed as well). I believe, it went that they (Mystra and Kelemvor) grew more distant when they became gods. I'm under the assumptions though that Kelemvor still had feelings left. My question(s) is this. How does Kelemvor feel about this whole death of mystra bit? How does he react to it? Did anything happen to Mystra's body? I have a few idea's, two of them I feel are bringing up. 1. Considering Kelemvor is the god of death, he claims Mystra's soul and the two are finally reunited, a part of Kelemvor is happy that Cyric murdered her, and that thought in itself begins to curropt him. 2. Standard funky stuff happens with Mystra's body/soul where it is lost forever, and Kelemvor gets raging mad that his Mystra is gone. There is now tention between him and the current imprisoners of Cyric. |

If I remember correctly the corpses of dead gods float around in the astral plane, and so Mystra's body would float around too. Maybe Kelemvor might secure the body, even build temples above it, 'in memory of a soul more grand and more understanding than any other soul or god...' something. Kelemvor hosting a grand deific funeral for the dead gods... sounds like an interesting plot hook. |

He finds it a bit disturbing, but understands that it is a natural progression at this time considering the exceedingly large amount of gods active. Even gods need to die. Lolth's personal warrior, dead. Lolth's son, dead, or is he. What's her name... bah can't be bothered to remember. Helm, dead. Mystra, dead..... wait a minute. Much like he requests of his clergy, he goes to see it personally. There on the astral plane lies mystra's body. He goes over to it, cradles it, and begins to mourn. He brings it back to his place on the Fuge Plane, and lies it to rest and a beautiful mosuleum. He mourns some more. While mourning, he looks into the past, to decern the reason for her death and realizes it is the working of Cyric and Shar. Cyric is currently held prisoner. He must answer for his crimes. He's already responsible for the deaths of a few gods, and a few are in question. If he is allowed to live he will continue to threaten the existance of all gods. He is the god of murder. Left unchecked he will snuff out all life. Without life there can be no death, the balance must be kept. More is at stake than the death of Mystra. Cyric must die. But Cyric can't be touched while he is help prisoner. Cyric can't be touched while he is being protected. |
