| shadowninja0503-04-07, 03:23 PM | I was thinking of playing a cleric/ crusader. However, I'm not too familar with the deities of Forgotten Realms. My character would be more interested in delivering justice and retribution rather than healing. Does anyone have a specific deity and his/ her domain that would be suitable for my character? |

Well, Tyr (LG) is the power of justice, and Hoar (demipower, LN) has revenge, retribution, and poetic justice as his portfolio. Other deities might include Helm, Torm, Nobanion, Red Knight, and Siamorphe (from Faerūnian pantheon). Horus-Re (has vengeance in portfolio) and Osiris from Mulhorandi pantheon might be good fits, too. Regards. |
| shadowninja0503-04-07, 04:00 PM | Ok thanks. I'm thinking probably either Hoar, Tyr, or Helm. Do you know what is the favored weapon of each of these deities? |
| Perun03-04-07, 04:18 PM | Ok thanks. I'm thinking probably either Hoar, Tyr, or Helm. Do you know what is the favored weapon of each of these deities? Tyr uses Justicar, a longsword; Hoar a javelin of lightning called Retribution's Sting, and Helm's favoured weapon is a bastard sword named Ever Watchful. Regards. |
| shadowninja0503-04-07, 04:19 PM | What were Tyr's domains again? |
| Perun03-04-07, 04:25 PM | What were Tyr's domains again? Good, Knowledge, Law, Retribution, War. Any other questions? :P |
| shadowninja0503-04-07, 04:39 PM | None for now...Thanks a lot. If I have anymore I'll hit u up :D |
| MerrikCale03-04-07, 09:28 PM | I would definately go Hoar. One of my favorite deities. |
| The_Shaman03-05-07, 12:29 PM | Torm is imo also a very fitting deity... Heck, when you're called "The Righteous Fury", how can you not be ;) ? If you're interested in Chaotic deities (nothing says retribution has to be lawful), there's Shevarash, Kiaransalee, Beshaba and some others whose names elude me right now. @Merrikcale: I'm also playing a Hoarite right now. Fun deity, but I get the feeling he's rather situational, and can carry a grudge if you, after settling your score, decide to move on to less psychotic endeavors ;) Not exactly righteous stuff, perhaps, but can be a blast if the DM steers the campaign your way. |
| shadowninja0503-05-07, 08:47 PM | I would definately go Hoar. One of my favorite deities. Hoar hm? One question I have about deities with retribution portfolios is that must a worshipper of such a deity constantly be looking for revenge? What would happen if a cleric made a vow of revenge but ends up unable to follow through? |

Uh who's Torm? Whats his/ her domain? Favored weapon? Alignment? I do like the "Righteous Fury" title though :D |

What would happen if a cleric made a vow of revenge but ends up unable to follow through? I like the way the Hoarite was potrayed in the Bloodwalk novel. He "ghostwalked" to different area avenging wrongs that were done. |
| The_Shaman03-09-07, 07:21 AM | I'd consider Hoar more fitting for a vigilante over a righteous crusader, but it could happen if you have a blood grudge against, say, a huge organization or an entire race. It's a bit like Shevarash for non-elves - okay, skip that if you don't know much about Shevarash. Now let's see, Torm, a.k.a. The True, a.k.a. The True Deity, a.k.a. The Loyal Fury (er, they say He's humble, I don't really buy it). I will try to limit myself to relatively open material, someone please let me know if I'm breaking the CoC. Basically we're looking at a lesser power who acts as a servant and champion of Tyr, and often a patron to paladins (afaik this would mean the entire occupation, not only those who have him as a patron deity). He's LG, His favourite weapon is a greatsword, and clerics can choose domains among good, healing, law, protection, and strength. He's keen on the ideal of service (though, unlike Helm, not at every service), and is very disapproving of corruption and especially treason. He has a very strong and reciprocated enmity for Bane and, to a lesser degree, Cyric, and while He is on passing terms with Helm, their respective cults are quite cold to each other. As an aside, He has a thing for LG dragons. |
| shadowninja0503-11-07, 06:46 PM | Cool thanks for all the facts about Torm :D |

| shadowninja0503-12-07, 04:11 AM | Hey that is pretty useful. Thanks :) |
| Kouk03-12-07, 04:33 AM | Your deity selection will probably have to do with your race and the region your character is from. Talk with your DM about this to narrow down the choices, as you probably have noticed there are quite a lot of gods in the Forgotten Realms. |
| The Ubbergeek03-19-07, 11:18 AM | Idea thrown in the air - a paladin of the Red Knight? Would be interesting. A master of warfare against the evil forces... |
