| XHereticX01-02-08, 12:35 PM | Does anyone knows what becomes of demiplanes in the 4e cosmology? Are they just floating in the Astral Sea like the divine realms are now? |
| MarkusTay6301-02-08, 02:50 PM | I think there will be no actual difference game mechanics-wise. Basically, demiplanes will just be small planes in 4e (exactly like divine Realms). Everything floats in the Astral Soup, so the only difference between all these 'bubbles' is size and purpose. But I could be mistaken about that... |

No, I'm pretty sure there are 4 main planes (Feywild, Shadowfell, Elemental Chaos, and Astral Sea). Only the divine realms and the Nine Hells will be within the Astral sea (and maybe demiplanes). Elemental chaos is everything that was once the elemental planes/paraelemental planes, etc plus the Abyss. Shadowfell is the Plane of Shadow and feywild is just Faerie. |

Which scraps the conceptual backing for demiplanes as bubbles of manifest probability within the ethereal depths. 4e likely won't make a distinction between demiplanes and anything else within its version of the Astral, which is unfortunate. |
| Mr_Miscellany01-03-08, 04:06 AM | But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't. Dude, you're already published. Just keep putting out good ideas, then they'll let you take the reigns and fill in the holes officially. Just don't screw up FR in the process. ;) |
| Lord Karsus01-03-08, 12:53 PM | -Is 'Astral Soup' the actual name? |
| MarkusTay6301-04-08, 08:36 PM | They were going to go with 'Ethereal Gumbo', but changed it at the last minute. :P Rich Baker recently made a coment about the Planes -As far as the Great Wheel, you can actually accommodate the outer planes within the new Astral Sea notion quite well, with very little change. Our take on the Inner Planes and the Ethereal Plane is definitely different, though. The fact that he mentions the Inner Planes at all, along with the Ethereal, gives me some hope that they will survive into 4e in some new incarnation. |
| Lord Karsus01-05-08, 04:38 PM | -No, seriously. Though, in that link, I see Astral Sea, so... |
| Suin Bahhar01-05-08, 06:40 PM | 'Astral soup' it is :D |
| MarkusTay6301-05-08, 07:26 PM | Cosmic Confluence? Ethereal Eddies? Spatial Seas? Planar Pond? Galactic Goop? Its all the same, no matter what we call it. The planes are just a bunch of turds bobbin' around in a Cosmic Toilet now. :D |
