| varyar06-11-07, 02:17 PM | Forgive the title. I'm a bit loopy on Quil at the moment. Aside from a couple lines in the intro to the gnome section of Demihuman Deities, I've never seen any references to the ladies of the gnome pantheon. Have they been mentioned anywhere else in canon? Inquiring minds want to know. |
| Faraer06-11-07, 05:37 PM | That's the only mention of that mystery that I recall. (This was discussed some months back, but I can't find the thread.) |
| Another Gnome06-12-07, 02:03 AM | Yondalla: "Hi, Garl!" :) Garl: "Hi honey, wassup?" Yondalla: "Well, me and the girls were just wondering, what's with this all-male pantheon of yours?" Garl: "I'm not so sure if the mole guy is actually guy. Then again he's not exactly a guy anyway." Yondalla:  "Whatever... but seriously, where are all the female gnome deities?" Garl: "We... uh... we lost them." Yondalla: "Oh, I'm sorry. How did they die?" :( Garl: "No... we lost them... and now we can't find them..." :thinks: |

| varyar06-12-07, 08:41 AM | Somewhere, the Ent Wives and the Gnome Goddesses are having wild parties... |
| The Ubbergeek06-12-07, 12:32 PM | they're at home looking after the kids and making meals for their men where they belong! :smirk: actually, perhaos - but then, Gnomes are not really much sexist compareds to their 'cousins' the dwarves - and Dwarves HAVE a very few goddesses. So... Well, myths don't always make sense. *shrugs* You can always make minor goddesses for your campaigns if you wish - look at the demigods of the reams thread for example, there was 1-2 halfling ones. |
| ripvanwormer06-12-07, 01:11 PM | I always thought that they died and were reincarnated as the gnome gods' "companions." That is, Garl's intelligent axe Arumdina was once his wife, her soul rescued from oblivion and forged into his weapon (with the help of Flandal Steelskin) to avenge her slayer. Baervan's companion Chiktikka the raccoon might have once been a goddess as well, as might have the intelligent stone golem of Segojan Earthcaller and Rhondang, the intelligent warhammer of Flandal Steelskin. Who killed the gnome goddesses? It could have been Urdlen, or it might have been a lord of the Abyss or the Nine Hells, or Malar or Kurtulmak or just about anyone. If you wish to incorporate "core" material into your FR campaign, there is one gnomish goddess: Sheyanna Flaxenstrand (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20040807a), goddess of love and beauty. |
