Godly Realm [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-14-08, 01:36 AM According to Deities and Demigods a deity can have his godly realm in the material plane, so I want to know if that rule applies to the FR too? I'm not quite sure so I'm asking.

IIRC, that realm is quite limited in size.

I just check, it's 30meters/rank.

Since I can't recall a single realm of that kind in Faerun, perhaps its small size prevent aventurers to found such places, or gods prefer to keep most livins beings away from it.

02-14-08, 04:42 AM Gargauth, the demigod of betrayal, cruelty, political corruption and powerbrokers has his divine realm on the Material Plane. There is some debate over its exact location.

If you have Faiths and Pantheons, check the "special qualities" section under each deity's stat block, you'll find one quality that says Godly Realm (X size Outer Plane, Y size Material Plane).

02-14-08, 05:45 PM I think some of the early deities may have (thinking Borem). The problem with having your realm in the material plane, is that anyone can walk in and kill you, and you stay dead (cause you are slain in "your" realm. Better to have your own plane where it's harder to get to.

It would be foolish for mortals to try to combat a deity, even more if it's in its godly realm, PC's facing gods will find themselves doing nothing against a deity unless we are talking about the weakest of them (demigods and the lesser of the lesser deities).

Or, if the PCs are working on behalf of Shar. That is the one exception to that statement.

02-15-08, 08:09 AM I think Demigods should be killable by epic level pcs. Not easily mind you, but the lore certainly supports it. Bane, Bhaal and Myrkul killed Borem. Finder killed Moander who was a Demigod at the time.

Lesser Gods and above though I think is just silly for mortals to try to kill. But Demigods? Sure. Most Demigods are weaklings or mortals who have just ascended anyways. I'de house rule it though that he who slays the god MUST take it's place. Whether they take the exact portfolio or like Finder twist it to their own use.

That's just me though. I kinda like the idea of becoming a god at the end of a campaign.....:cool:

Well, even the "weakest" demigod is still strong--almost certainly stronger than the PCs would be.
