I mean he always struck me as a LG (LN) deity, kind of like Pholtus or St. Cuthbert on Oerth whereas Torm comes across as a much purer LG deity.

Does anyone else agree with me on this?

Yes I agree with you there Tyr is more lawfull than good ,in fact there was PRC that was basicly a paladin of law who happaned to be good too in the FR PHB.

Tyr was always played at my games as very much about Mercy, Tolerance, and the "Justice" portion of the Law as opposed to strict enforcement of the Law. That was more Siamorphe and Helm in my games.

Tyr was the whole Gandalf "Show Pity to Gollum" type.

Nah, I just see him as LG. You can be grim and still not "flirt" with neutrality.

Funny thing tho. Ao made him blind because he was too much into good... blind justice and all that.

Now that he actually does exactly what Ao wanted, handing out dispassionate blind justice, hes punished! Damn, ao is a schizo with pms :D

Disagree...too much like Cuthbert...He IS the Realms version of Cuthbert...

No, that's Torm.

Tyr is about good Justice. Torm is about vengeance against evil.

Does that make Bane into Hextor?

Are they long lost siblings?

Sort of...think about it; HExtor is going and Bane is becoming him on Oerth as well...makes sense...

The core setting in the upcoming 4E PHB isn't Oerth. It's an all-new world with a few familiar gods from both the Realms and Greyhawk mixed in with new ones.

As for Bane and Torm, it's possible they were mortals at the same time. Maybe they met while they were both still human?

How then will the Realms gods be unique or for that matter those of the new world?

Are they all panspheric?

Well, some FR gods have always been shared by other campaign settings (like the racial gods, although they didn't originate in the FR setting, necessarily).

As far as I know, Bane has been revealed as a "core" god for 4E, but that Bane might be different from the standard FR one. And there are new core gods created just for 4E that have never had anything to do with Greyhawk, such as Avendra, Melora, and the Raven Queen.

Some, yes. After all, plenty of Faerunian gods have been worshipped elsewhere (Tyr, Silvanus, Mielikki, Corellon, Lolth, etc). Is it so strange to find a god who was originally native to Faerun being worshipped elsewhere?

Besides, as I've said before on threads like these, this wouldn't be the first time that Bane is worshipped in another setting. He's also worshipped in Ravenloft. Hell, the worship which he received in Ravenloft (and the core setting, and any other worlds he's worshipped on) may be what allowed him to rise again from the dead, despite all the various Banedeath's Cyric's worshippers instituted (Can't kill all his worshippers if there's more on other worlds that you don't know about).

Can you expand upon these deities individually madame? Who or what are they?

Sure, but only a little.:) I'll tell you what I know (thanks to preview information, such as the preview books), but not much as been revealed yet.

Who or what are they?

Melora: a god of the wilderness. Based on the preview in Dragon about Halflings, she (I think it's a she) was involved with the creation of halflings along with Sehanine, but neither of those two deities bothered to "foster" their creation.

Avendra: a goddess of luck and travel. She "picked up" and fostered the halflings where their "parents" didn't, but the halflings don't seem to be an especially pious race to begin with. Keep in mind, too, that as I said before the gods aren't really "racial" anymore--I'm only talking about halflings because what's revealed about these gods has a lot to do with them.

The Raven Queen: a neutral goddess of death who resides on the Shadowfell. Worlds and Monsters mentions that she has some type of pact with the Shadar-Kai, a race of "shadowy" humonoids that also resides on that plane.

Too bad Nerull's gone.

We don't know that.:) There are apparently going to be 30 Core deities, and they haven't all been named yet.

He's not gone. He's still in Greyhawk. The core setting, however, is not Greyhawk.
