Help with pantheon [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-25-07, 11:46 PM Ok, so here it goes. In the beginning of the campaign I allowed my characters to get away with too much. My fault and instead of putting my fist down and saying this is how things are, I'm going to try a sneakier way of doing things. I'll give you the simplified version of the story.

I'm running Shackled City, which basically takes place in "normal" D&D world. Well my characters talked me into placing it into a not so traveled part of FR, which i don't remember where off the top of my head. So now I have people that are technically in FR worshiping Wee Jas, Heironeous and so on. Here's another problem I have, I now have another character calling out to a Roman pantheon, Mars in particular, and now I have a Gnome who worships a little known FR Gnome god.

Can you see the headache I have allowed myself. I'm not here to whine, I'm not here to get beat up. I'm here to ask a few simple questions, because I know how to rectify this, just not how to implement it.

I remember hearing something of the Time of Troubles, when the gods went silent. If I am remembering correctly there was some upheaval in the heavens, a god or two may have died. I don't know.

What I need to know is this:

1. Where can I find more information on the Time of Troubles?

2. I'm interested in making this repeat, or at least changing the outcome of them and implementing new deities. How would I go about doing this and is it possible in Fr?

Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.

02-26-07, 01:35 AM -The Avatar Series was the bunch of novels that told the story of the Time of Troubles. As for 3e sources, the FRCS mentions the Time of Troubles, as does F&P. The older, 2e sopurcebooks detailing Faerūnian deities also mentions the ToT many times.

-Now, here's another solution to your debacle. You have characters in the Realms worshipping non-Faerūnian powers, who are not even active in Realmspace. You have two options you can:

A) Have said deities come to Realmspace, and see what their new presence causes
B) Have similar deities granting the prayers/spells of the characters in question. For example, a character thinks he is worshipping Wee Jas, but in reality, Velsharoon is actually answering his/her prayers. Might the characters be in for a little shock when it is revealed that the deities they thought they were worshipping aren't actually the deities they think they are worshipping? :cool:

My question is this:
Is it feasible that during the Time of Troubles, gods that came from another world could wipe out the gods of Faerun?

-In your campaign, if you want, then go for it. Were I the DM, I wouldn't allow it. I am sure that Ao put together some kind of failsafes to prevent such a situation from occuring.
