Hieraitic of Thoth Builds Flying Library.... [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-19-07, 09:22 PM So Im gonna take build a flying library, dedicated to Thoth.
Although I am a hieratic, I wand to honor tradition by making it in an apropriate form.
Thus far, I have considered a small Pyramid, a short Obelisk, or a large orb.
The orb represents the new moon, as the "real" Thoth was a moon god among other things.
Walls might be of smoked glass.

Any ideas, nothing I have said here is certain, nothing is sure...

08-20-07, 03:17 AM I assume you mean heratic, otherwise your some form of egyptian writing.

whatever it is, make it of stone, the Mulhurandi (Egyptians) were of course the ancient worlds most prolific workers of stone. Rather than a pyramid, which is a home for the dead, you should propably go with some form of complex with statues in the forms of an ibis and baboons. you could add in obelisks although those are associated with the sun/mound of creation. although not assciated with the shape, cover it in hieroglyphs due to Thoth being the divine inventer of the the Egyptian language. These Hieroglyphs should have many glyphs of protection/warding within them to protect your new library.

08-28-07, 08:09 AM A winged scarab beetle statue looks more menacing if you're looking to intimidate your enemies. It could be big enough to house several chambers inside its belly, a headquarters in its head with smokey glass windows as its orblike eyes. This is more construct/automaton like though.

08-31-07, 06:01 PM that could look cool, but he is a follower of thoth, the scarab as a symbol is related to the sun. of course if your just going for an egyptian look then the scarab could be ok. a sphinx anywhere on the grounds of the library would be great as it is one of the most iconic egyptian creatures in dnd. could be a great guardian of the library as well as an advisor

i like egypt too much i think.

truth be told, i can so imagine a winged scarab fortress as a mobile assault platform, it would be cool, kinda like the flying citadels in dragonlance but for the mulhorandi instead.
