| Overpowered_Munchkin04-17-07, 04:42 PM | Does anyone know where to find some more info on Bhaal, except in Lost Empires of Faerūn? I have been looking allover but I cant find anything. Is there any bhaalspawn template printed somewhere? I need some info because I'm gonna bring him back from the dead in my new campaign. Any info or where to find any would be greatly appreciated :) |
| Vasyek04-17-07, 04:51 PM | This Return to Elemental Evil site (http://www.davidcwood.com/adnd/campaign/evil/bhaal.php) has info on Bhaal & co. for some reason. Seems pretty much identical to what's present in Faiths & Avatars, which I suspect is a fair bit more thorough than what's in Lost Empires. They won't quite agree with each other as portfolios go, since WotC decided to shuffle Death over to Myrkul, but whatever. As for Bhaalspawn, it's a template in some dragon magazine somewhere. |
| Stigger04-17-07, 04:52 PM | Faiths and Avatars for 2e had a full write up of him up to the time of troubles, Forgotten Realms Adventures for 2e also mentioned him a bit as well, though I don't recall it being anything that wasn't in Faiths and Avatars. Both should be available at an online RPG store as PDF's, so might want to check there. Doubt there's a bhaalspawn template, considering the rather wild variance they seemed to have from each other... never know though. |
| Overpowered_Munchkin04-17-07, 05:27 PM | Thank you guys. That site was of great help Vasyek. Stigger I' m going to check in on Faiths and Avatars ASAP. As for the Bhaalspawn, is that Dragon Magazine #288? I think I read that it was there somewhere on the forums... but I'm not really sure. |
| Old Sage04-17-07, 08:00 PM | The Bhaalspawn template for 3e was presented in DRAGON #288, yes. There's also some updated info for the supposed remnants of the clergy of Bhaal in DRAGON #322 as part of the "Deathstalker" PrC. |
| TomCosta04-18-07, 04:38 PM | I wrote the deathstalker and a variant of the same appears in the unofficial Prestige of the Realms hosted by Eric Boyd here: http://www.ericlboyd.com/dnd/prestige_classes.html |

Nah, absolutely different from what WoTC gives on Bhaal, and i think they are completely off the world on some of the choices they made regarding portfolio's and such, interesting, but not the Bhaal i see him being. Not in comparison to the 2nd ed. books i have. |
| Mirtek04-20-07, 01:48 PM | i think they are completely off the world on some of the choices they made regarding portfolio's Actually that are exactly Bhaal's portfolio. Bhaal never had a seperate "murder" portfolio (like Cyric) until WotC decided to retcon it in LEoF. Bhaal (prior to the stupid LEoF retcon) was the Lord of Death (as opposed to Myrkul who was the Lord of the Dead). He was just not very patient and prefered to have all these mortals murdered instead of waiting until their time would come naturally. |

Death, Destruction, Evil, Law, Illusion, Trickery??? the first 4 i can agree on but the latter 2 are not what he was about, he was never subtle and "sure as heck" did not use illusions as such. Hatred (of the living) is much more to my logic of representing him than illusion and trickery... Burning Spear |
| Vasyek04-20-07, 09:10 PM | That's courtesy of the site though, rather than anything Faiths & Avatars had to say about Bhaal. As far as the description of the god, priesthood, and dogma go, though, it's all verbatim from Faiths & Avatars. The domains are indeed nonsense though. My guess would a crude transfer of Cyric's domains (plus death) without much thought past that. As an intermediate god he shouldn't even grant that many to begin with. |
