Is Hoar the best fit for this guy? [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-07-08, 07:26 AM Ok he's the character concept..

The guy use to be a bit of a bully boy around his local farm, until orcs attacked and killed all his family and left him for dead (ok not the most original start :D )

This left a scar on his already not exactly nice cheerful personality. He's basically very resentful, vengeful and has a tendency to do what he wants with little regard for laws or other peoples feelings.

However he's also got a bit of a hero's complex, he thinks himself a "good guy" and often tries to do heroic deeds like slay monsters and such (especially orcs) and impress pretty girls. Course he always one that likes to talk about all the great things he's done and how heroic he is.

I'm thinking chatoic evil alignment, but deity wise I'm thinking Hoar.

You guys think its a good enough fit or would I be better off with another alignment or deity?

I was thinking that too.. hence why I'm asking on here. My guys clearly very much chaotic, but also clearly a strong believer in a eye for a eye mentality.

He's the sorta guy that have no issue torchering a orc until he/she screamed for it mummy. Basically while he might say he does heroic things his means will defently be things that paladins will frown heaverly on...

Plus he's rather self centered.

I agree with that.

I imagine your character as The Punisher from the MARVEL comics.

So I would say he should be Chaotic Neutral and would fit pretty well, and for me, Hoar is the best deity to follow and it doesn't matter if he is lawful, if you are not a Cleric, then it's ok, you can be chaotic and laid worship him.

02-08-08, 01:39 AM As long as the "justice" is fitting, then I think Hoar could fit. Then again, Talos couldn't hurt ether... I donno... The Hoarite is at a loss.

If you make him Half-Elven, you could make him a Cleric of the Elven God of Vengeance.

In fact, because your guy considers himself a hero, he wouldn't choose an evil god.

Also, he's not really evil himself, just misguided. I'd go for true neutral (he must obey some of the laws some of the time. else he would always be in jail) - he sounds more like an opportunist with a chip on his shoulder, then anything else.

None of that requires evil alignment, in my opinion. I still think neutrality is an option.

02-11-08, 02:16 PM I would say CN and yes, Hoar is the best fit. From my point of view, every alignment have many many possibilities and different ways to be played, so personally I don't like to have an alignment mixture, but if you feel is necessary then go ahead.
