| Baash04-18-07, 12:24 PM | Is the 5th level spell Permanency the only way to make spells permanent and are the spells restricted to those in the Permanency spell description? Could for example Embrace the wild be made permanent somehow? I also remember reading something about a rod of permanency here in the forums but haven't found any details of it in any of the books. Is it a real item, and if so what does it excatly do? Thanks :) |

Thanks :) I don't actually know that spell:P But any spell that says "This spell can be made permanent via the permanency spell." are the ones that can be made permanent, whether they're listed under the permanency spell or not. Alternatively, if you're epic, you could litterally make every 0-9th level spell with a duration longer than instantaneous permanent via an epic spell utilizing the mythal seed. For spells with durations of instantaneous, prevalent powers baby. Oh yeah, nothing screams munchkin more than continous round after round meteor swarms, day and night!:mage: |

The process of determining if it is possible takes the same amount of time, gold and XP cost as if you were researching the spell itself, and while the DM may have decided no, you still must go through this process to determine the outcome. (as automatically knowing the outcome kinda makes things to easy) |
| Faraer04-19-07, 08:30 PM | Is the 5th level spell Permanency the only way to make spells permanent . . .Almost certainly not: the usual pattern is that for each Player's Handbook spell the Realms has a variety of related magics, though most of them not written up or published. And there's wish. |
| Hakubak04-22-07, 10:33 AM | I have a related question. It seems that two people are required to cast some of those spells, or at least a very high level multiclass character. For example, wizards and sorcerers cannot cast Magic Fang or Greater Magic Fang. It would seem that someone else (e.g. a druid or ranger) would cast those spells, then the wizard or sorcerer would make it permanent. The reason I want to know this is that I have a factotum. I can't cast Permanancy because it has an XP cost. I can cast most of the spells listed in the "self only" list under Permanancy. I imagine those spells can only be made permanent on yourself because they can only be cast on yourself. But if I can cast the first spell, can I pay someone else to make it permanent? |
| Karsus the Mad04-22-07, 10:52 AM | I'd say sure:P |
| Stigger04-22-07, 11:22 AM | Would largely depend on how your DM viewed it, but I wouldn't have a problem with it were I DM'ing it. |
