Hello, the problem i am having is the price of two magic items.

one is a face mask that when i pull it down over my head (sorta like a bone goalie mask. it would produce the spell, shield. Since i duel wield and do not carry one.

second is boots with expeditious retreat, so that my movement is increased.

the trouble between me and the DM, is our numbers are very much not in sync and would like the people here to help us out.

what is the item creation cost of these two items?

any help would be very wonderful

Face Mask = Spell Level x caster level x 2000gp, then times 1.5 for unusual slot, then times 2 for a spell measured in minutes= 6,000gp (1x1x2000x1.5x2)

Boots = Spell level x caster level x 2000gp times 2 for a spell measured in minutes = (1x1x2000x2) 4,000gp

These are base prices, not market value

I have to disagree with the pricing for the shield item - it seems to me that it should be based off the force shield ring (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/rings.htm#forceShield) of 8,000 for a +2 bonus.

A lot of the always-on numerical bonuses are more expensive than would be the case by the basic rules - compare bracers of armor with mage armor.

Using force shield as a guide, a permanent force shield bonus to AC is double the bonus squared times 1,000. So +1 is 2,000, +2 is 8K, +3 is 18K, +4 is 32K, +5 is 50K, anything past that is epic.

Personally, I would be tempted to double the cost for the mask (replacing the 1.5x for unusual slot) because it doesn't tie up one of your hands the way the force shield ring does.

Anyway. Compare the boots of expeditious retreat with those of striding and springing, which grant a +10' movement. If I recall correctly, there are also legbands of speed in Masters of the Wild, which are similar.

The price is what ever your DM wants it to be. Some items "require at least some DM judgment calls. Use good sense when assigning prices..." If your DM sees fit to add to the price then it is their call. If its just an addition error point it out but if they want to add to the price you get to suck it up and deal with it.
