| Friendlyfish01-09-08, 07:27 PM | Are we going to see a sudden influx of psions and mind mages to fill the void? If all the big hoary old weave-users burned up and died, this leaves a perfect power vacuum for all the mentalists to come out of their dark holes and start mindburning the population of Faerun...after all, psions have been appearing with disturbing regularity in Realms fiction over the last couple of years, and apparently the Aboleths are rising. Don't mind me, I just like psionics. |
| Zsych01-10-08, 03:33 AM | The Weave is just going to be replaced by some other magical power source. Possibly the Weave and Shadow-weave will be combined, killing Mystra('s consciousness?) in the process. Most wizards probably won't be able to handle the change, but some will survive, and magic will continue. |
| Friendlyfish01-10-08, 03:48 PM | I should have titled it, "Now that MOST of the ARCHmages are dead." I know magic isn't gone, that was a typo. But since we're on the topic, what does happen to all the psions? Their source of power shouldn't have been affected. The shadow weavers too. |
| Storm_Silverhand01-10-08, 04:37 PM | Heya, I should have titled it, "Now that all the mages are dead." I know magic isn't gone, that was a typo. But since we're on the topic, what does happen to all the psions? Their source of power shouldn't have been affected. The shadow weavers too. Even saying that all the mages are dead is somewhat inaccurate. Some of them will survive. :) As for psions, it remains to be seen... but thus far I have heard nary a word on 4th Edition Psionics... They may not even exist. |

Those arcane spellcasters who live in a Mythal clad city will fare better, Richard Baker said that those cities are more protected from the ravages of the Spellplague. Which means most, if not all Elven High Mages will still be around, Alediran (who will have become an Archmage before the Spellplague, will be protected by Myth Drannor's Mythal). I'm sure Laeral and the twins too since the new elven city is also protected by a Mythal, Evermeet too. |

It's release will probably be fairly close to Eberron's 4e CG, though. |
| Jiggawha01-12-08, 07:33 AM | the number of surviving mages would still greatly outnumber the psionics who knows what will happen with Ioulaum ... and with Auppenser (now that Mystra's dead) |

| Suin Bahhar01-13-08, 07:33 PM | Psions can create their own 'seed' of a demiplane. If Auppenser was getiing awake he could have easily created a demiplane to escape Dweomerhart. He could have survived that. Maybe he already started his own plane to grow into a domain. |

| neferphras01-21-08, 06:54 PM | As I mentioned on another thread, I truely believe that was the point in killing Mystra. The writers of Wotc had an ego trip and were upset that the Forgotten Realms out sold there baby Ebberron so set out to destroy Mystra, and the Weave, and everything that its fans have loved for years. They want to kill the Forgotten Realm or at least make it as boring as E(bore)on. That was the entire point of the tragically poor writing involving Tymora and Helm and the unimaganitive to the extreme killing of Mystra...again. They are killing or marrying off the gods people love. It is ON PURPOSE, they are trying to kill the Forgotten Realms. Join the boycott and just dont by a lick of 4.0. |

They want to kill the Forgotten Realm or at least make it as boring as E(bore)on. Sorry, but that's a ridiculous notion. For one, you're assuming that the Realms outsells Eberron. I'm not sure that's true. Second, if it was, WHY would they do something for the sole purpose of garnering LESS sales? That makes absolutely no sense. WotC is, first and foremost, a business. They're in the business to make MORE money, not less. They wouldn't do anything if they thought it'd cost them business. It is ON PURPOSE, they are trying to kill the Forgotten Realms. Nobody in their right mind sets out to kill a cash cow (Nevermind that there are easier ways of doing it, like simply not publishing it at all). The more likely scenario is that Forgotten Realms sales are starting to decline, perhaps to precipitous levels. So much so that they feel they need to do something drastic in order to bring in new fans, because if they don't, then the Realms will wither and die on the vine. I don't think it's a coincidence, either, that they're ending the Living Greyhawk and replaced it with Living Forgotten Realms. Clearly the goal is to bring in new fans. Whether they did the right or thing or not, time will tell. But I've gotten the sense, lately, that this is all an attempt to keep the Realms line from meeting the same fate as Greyhawk, Birthright, Dark Sun, and every other setting that's no longer being published. |
| Dzwood01-21-08, 09:14 PM | Ok Call me a noob and a dork and dumb but what is living FR all about? |
| Cmarco01-21-08, 11:15 PM | Ok Call me a noob and a dork and dumb but what is living FR all about? Living Forgotten Realms is the RPGA's flagship campaign setting heading into Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition. |
