| Lord Karsus01-29-08, 09:57 PM | -I don't exactly understand...You're looking for others' experiences with creating Mythals? Well, they are incredibly powerful entities, that bestow plenty of positive effects to the area it is anchored to. -More information about Mythals, and Elven High Magic, can be found in Elves of Faerūn. |

I'd never let my players become high mages, since they could then do silly things like hit people with magic missile a quarter mile away. |
| Lord Karsus01-29-08, 10:49 PM | -Good point. While it is a viable PrC and everything, I, too, agree that it is probably one of those PrCs that is suited best for an NPC, and not an actual PC. |

(I'd best keep this simple, hey) Mythal effects are intended (functionally) to serve after the fashion of Domains in the Outer Planes - they generally restrict some spells while enhancing others. The creation of a Mythal is a massively complex and demanding exercise far beyond the abilities of any mortal mage. In game terms, you'd need to use time travel and get on Karsus' good side (not sure which of those two feats would be more difficult). I really don't think you're worried about any of that though. I have a hunch you're better off asking your GM to let you make a permanent "Flyfield" (spell from Spelljammer that let everybody in the area of effect enjoy the benefits of the Fly spell) - see if he'll let you experiment with the standard spells on a bigger scale, experiment with trigger conditions - say for example certain types of spells trigger secondary effects that the players only find out about after casting their spells. The Mythal doesn't have to be stable, you might experiment with Wildzones. at least you didn't end every sentence with lol Kthxbai |
