| Questing GM07-05-07, 10:00 PM | Do any outsiders serve Cyric ? Well, what i had in mind was a powerful planar servant that has been telepathically speaking to one of my PCs, posing himself as Cyric. By claiming the PCs to be his next chosen, he has send him on quest that would glorify the worship of Cyric. First he killed/assassinated the Lathander priest of a local community then now he's off to dedicate hundred of innocent lives to be slaughtered by an army of hobgoblins as sacrifice to Cyric in which he was able to pull off using lies and deceit to lure the innocent into a trap. In the end, the extraplanar servant tends to manipulate the PCs for his own ends and eventually betray them and sacrifice them to his master. The incubi and succubi looks like potential candidates for such an extraplanar creature. Any other possible outsiders that serve Cyric ? |
| Bloodtide_the_Red07-05-07, 10:27 PM | As per Faiths and Avatars Cyric is served by: Nightmares and various undead creatures. He would natural be served by lots of Tanar'ri, of course. For that Realms flavor there are all the creatres he 'stole' from Bane. Such as Banedead, Baneguards, Banelars, Baneliches, and Zhentarim Spirits. BT |
| XHereticX07-05-07, 11:20 PM | Hmm, woudn't Slaad serve Cyric, since they are native to his plane and all. Or does he have some sort of strange pact with the slaad lords Ssedem and Ygorl. |
| PharaunMizzrym07-06-07, 12:30 AM | I would say that at least some of the slaad would serve him. Death slaad are the prime candidates, as they are chaotic evil. |
| Gray Richardson07-06-07, 12:52 AM | I don't think slaadi would serve anybody, it is anathema to their nature. If they do it is because they find it fun or interesting, but they are unreliable, have short attention spans, and tend to wander off. No doubt Cyric has tried to enlist or compel their service, but likely as well he has found it a frustrating and nearly impossible task, not worth the effort required to get them to comply. |
| Gray Richardson07-06-07, 12:56 AM | There are demodands in the Supreme Throne. How they got there, I have no idea. Not sure if there is a Faerūnian aspect of Apomps in the Supreme Throne or not. If there is a Faerūnian version of Apomps, then the demodands would likely serve Apomps and Apomps only. However, if there is no Apomps in the Realms, it could mean that the demodands are on loan from Apomps (over in the Great Wheel) to Cyric for some interesting reason. Or maybe Cyric could have created his own demodands. Or maybe Cyric could have absorbed the Faerūnian aspect of Apomps and now the demodands serve him. That could be interesting too. |
| Gray Richardson07-06-07, 01:00 AM | Howlers are Cyric's favorite creatures. Of course, these might not be suitable for your purpose. |
| Gray Richardson07-06-07, 01:03 AM | Nightwalker might be a good option. Bodak might also be a good option. |
| PharaunMizzrym07-06-07, 01:05 AM | Fear. Cyric is a greater deity. When faced with the possible anger of that great a divine force, even the most chaotic creater can find it within itself to comply. Im sure the slaadi woulf find some way to use the situaiton to benefit itself regardless. It would be as the relationships between lesser and greater demons. |
| Vasyek07-06-07, 01:22 PM | As far as unique outsider servants go, the Black Beasts of Bedlam described in volume 2 of the realms bestiary (available here: http://www.ericlboyd.com/dnd/monsters.html) trace their origins to Cyric and, as far as I know, serve no one else. |

One problem with that, the Slaadi fear their own planar lords far more than they would any gods. The names Ssedem, Ygorl, and Bazim-Gorag would inspire quite a bit of fear in an average slaad. Also, remember that while Cyric is the only god in the Supreme Throne, there are plenty of powerful planar beings that include the slaad lords, Apomps, and other on the plane that can challenge his might. I think that Cyric just has a mutual relationship with the slaad that allows him and the lords of that plane to help each other in times of need. He probably has something similar with Apomps. |

He probably has something similar with Apomps. personally i can't see this being the case, cyrics general charachter shows that reliance on anyone but your self is a weakness and the chances of him turning up to help some one out if they were in trouble would be nigh on zero becuse he would despise them for being weak. more likely he would use some one as a sop to soak up the trouble but not reciprocate if it was required from him. |
| TomCosta07-09-07, 08:47 PM | The black beasts of bedlam originally mentioned in the Volo's Guide article in Dragon 353 saw print in Dragon 355, but are also found in the link above. |
