Think he wants the Cliff Notes version... which I can't help much with since I've read neither so far. Can't quite bring myself to do it...

You honestly don't want to either. It's remarkably stupid.

With all due respect, that's a tall order...

Has the do not speak about novels been lifted? if so then I will give you a brief run down of what went on, as I love the Drizzt novels and the only one I have not completely enjoyed was Spine of the World.

Indeed the ban on novel discussions has been lifted, so long as we behave and don't flame the authors or each other while discussing them.

I've got every single Salvatore Forgotten Realms novel sitting on my bookshelf... and haven't read a single one. I've been meaning to get around to it someday. And I will. Someday...

so long as we behave and don't flame the authors or each other while discussing them.

That's why they banned novel discussion?

...I wonder when they're gonna ban discussion of the 4E Realms?

;)

If they do that then I can guarantee the FR boards will become a ghost town with tumble weeds and all.

Kinda interesting to note the staff blogs had pretty much fallen to near-extinction last I looked...

Ok let me see how clear my memory is at this point. I've only read it once atm and that was back the day it came out.

If you do not want SPOILERS do not read any more K ;)

Not sure how detailed you want things so I'll be brief, If you want me to go intomore detail on certain parts I will,

Prolouge pretty much lets us know the world is a darker place. We find out a number if the bih name cities have fallen aross faerun, and the orcs are still around as a kingdom. Obould's heir (or one at least) is haveing trouble keeping his kingdom together (orcs nature and all) while we also find out that this Orc female is gettig ready to be married to a human (poor sob) someting rare indeed. Besides that Drizzt comes to the rescue of some orcs who get attacked by some dwarves and a elf. Find out there is a organization called the CCC that are all anti orc. Keep in mind this is all 100 years in the future.

Epilouge we find Drizzt finding a little hope, and also a bit more info on Tos'Un (the drow that has khazid'hea) apparantly he is still alive and has been liveing withthe elves of the moon wood. He has been doing so well that he even has a child with a elf there. It SEEMS(?) he has turned a new leaf, but it could justbe the best of his options time will tell.

Story Obould's army is getting restless and wanting to march, but that is not his plans. He wants to stop the march and setle with what they have taken so far and not tempt fate. Along comes a orc/ogre brute who takes up the mantle of bringing the fight to the bad guys, and all h311 breaks lose in Oboulds little kingdom. This new antagonist kills Innovindil (shocked and mad grr) and also has the help of a gnome sorcerer who apparantly is very afraid of Alustrial.

Wulfgar finds the baby in Nesme and takes a little convienceing to get the baby. We then find out he is not going back to Mitjral Hall and he intends to take Colson back to his real parents on his way home to Icewind Dale.

Catti-brie has a bum leg still and it seems like her adventureing days are numbered. She gives Drizzt Heartseeker cause of this. Sh then has a ocnversation with Lady of Silverymoon and finds she does have some talent for wizardy. She gives hera couple of trinkets (wand of soemtihng and a ring of shooting stars) and tells her is she wishes she would tutor her in the ways of magic. At the end Drizzt killed the gnome and takes his robe which he gives to Cat. It apprantly was unscahed from Drizzt's attcks.

Bruenor searches for Gauntlgrim but instead finds some other dark kingdom that aparantly housed dwarves and orcs who lived in harmony together. There the companions fight off some shadow creatures and leave vowing to retuen when they know more. At the end of the book we have Bruenor signing a peace treaty with Obould.

Obould finds some unlikely allys against the new brute trying to take over his kingdom in the form of Drizzt and company. Drizzt and Obould kill the new antagonist and thats what leads to the treaty in a nut shell.

Forgive me is this seems chaotic but I just typed as I wrote. If you want to know more on any certain point please let me know.

Great... a KKK analogue in the Realms. Just what we need.

Oh, wait, nevermind, the EV already sorta qualified for that one. So.. yeah, another one. Fantabulous...
Andferne

12-08-07, 05:29 PM
Well at least the EV hated everyone that wasnt elven. These guys just hate the orcs. Of course with the track record of the North who can blame them. But thats a whole other debate with one that I care not to get into.

Yes indeed--complete with black robes and black hoods (really!).

At least R.A could've given Bruenor an heir or something.

Are the Bouldershoulder brothers mentioned at all? I was seriously bummed when Pikel lost his arm and thought that possibly the arm could've been saved somehow.

No kidding. They're called the Casin Cu Calas, which sounds like Ku Klux Klan. Their initials are CCC, like the KKK. Black robes and hoods, white roobs and hoods. And hell, they're even called the Night Riders. Talk about hammering it home. I guess Orc is the new Black in the 4E Realms.

That just sounds racist in itself. Not saying you meant to sound that way, but it does.
GreenKnight

I didn't mean it to sound as such. Besides, I'm not the one who cast orcs in the role of blacks. Man, they REALLY need to better think through some of these new ideas.

I for one thought your comment was funny.:)

Maybe Hanali didn't understand that the comment was a take on the common phrase "[whatever's in style] is the new black" (black clothes and/or fashion accessories are always in style because they go with everything).

Ah, a member of the avant-garde of the fashion world, I see. :D Glad you appreciate. Now, the question is... was it punny?

Ok, that was just stupid. :yuck:

Ivan and Pikel were not in this book and was said at the end of the last trilogy to be heading back to the Spirit Soaring. Most likely Cadderly will fix Pikels arm if he is not too late and Pikel has himself made his own replacement arm out of something strange.
