sithar 04-29-07, 02:55 PM	Could someone clear up what happens when you die. say, you worshipped corellon, when you die do you retain your material plane form and go to his plane? And if you die after you've died (say by a demon attack) what happens next? do you go to the wall? Hope these questions aren't too newbie.
PharaunMizzrym 04-29-07, 03:10 PM	They're decent questions. When your soul reaches your deity, he/she will give your soul a form that your deity finds suitable. Most likely you will still somewhat resemble your material plane form. If you are a petitioner killed in the outer planes, you're soul will join the essence of the plane. Unless if you are killed outside of your afterlife plane, then you will most likely reappear there after a period of time as is what happens with outsiders.

For normal petitioners (with some specific exceptions such as Moradin's petitioners), dying outside of their home plane / domain of their deity = obliteration and loss of any chance to join their essence with their plane or deific patron.

Then again, any high-level character can simply take a weekend off and go see for himself what the deal is... * * * Lol, I still don't know what a petitioner is. Petitioners are essentially physical manifestations of dead souls. They retain a varying degree of their former appearance and mindset, depending on the plane they end up in afterlife (individual planar traits also defines what happens if the petitioner is killed). For game purposes (i.e. resurrecting) it is assumed that PC petitioners avoid any afterlife mishaps.
kintire 05-01-07, 08:13 AM	Lol, I still don't know what a petitioner is. Its a generic term for "you, but dead". Exactly what that means varies by plane, but the base assumption is that it looks like you but with a few planar traits appropriate to your new home. Generally speaking, you will undergo more alteration in the lower planes, than the upper, but that isn't a hard rule. generally, you lose all or most of your memories as well.
