I got started in the game in 3.5 but am playing with guys that have been playing since AD&D 2.0 and before. We don't normally abide by the rules and typically stress our DM out with various reasearched items from the different versions, campaigns, etc etc, that make him pull his hair out. My main issue is catching up to their historical knowledge.

Here is what I am looking for:

Any references to higher level magic(10+). I know that there is the EL Handbook and own it but I am looking for the good old stuff. Stuff like referenced in "Elminster in Hell" where various characters with the aid of Mystra do things like pick up and throw mountains, or make devil lords sit down and forget what the hell they were doing.

Any references from the AD&D versions 1 or 2, Mytryl's days when magic was unteathered. Handbooks, adventure books etc. Looking for abit of a scavenger hunt. Just need the names of the books and if possible the ISBN #'s.

I completely understand the current God of Magic's rules, and the previous' but I am working angles to get around them by using the Shadow weave. After all, what Midnight (previously Mystra) forbids, Shar may not. Too many references pop in my head were Elminster says she forbids nothing... yeah forbids nothing to her chosen but the rest of us poor saps live and die by her restraints... Besides, a couple well placed shadow spells ripping apart the fabric of Reality and creating portals to places the Gods don't even know where to (maybe I can throw Faerun into Ravenloft...*smile*), would put a shimmer of delite in a Chaotic character's life, such as my own.

Knowledge is power....you all know the story. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Over on the free older edition downloads section, over on the left under Downloads, towards the bottom of the page as I recall, there's plenty of 2e stuff on Netheril and Arcane Age in general that you should find useful. If you want to get really obnoxious, you could go looking for pdf versions of the 2e Wizard Spell Compendium (4 volumes), Priest Spell Compendium (3 volumes), and Encyclopedia Magica (4 volumes).

-Note that Epic Spells and True 10+ Level spells are not the same things.

-That said, you are going to find the rules and explanations for True 10+ Level spells in Netheril: Empire of Magic.
