| PeEll02-29-08, 10:53 PM | The forgotten realms history book speaks of the Imaskari and the shadow stone - what are some other sources for more information about this item? |
| BadCatMan02-29-08, 11:22 PM | That would probably just be The Shadow Stone novel by Richard Baker. I think that's it. I haven't read the book, so I couldn't say what it is. |
| PeEll02-29-08, 11:26 PM | thanks |
| Green Elven Vampire02-29-08, 11:51 PM | Okay, here we go... The Shadow Stone is a ancient (by human standards) artifact of the lost realm of Imaskari. Once attuned to this lost relic you find that you are able to cast Shadow Magic, and further study and deep delving in the art of the sub-school of Shadow magic leads to more powerful shadow knowledge. The best info on The Shadow Stone is the novel mentioned above. Otherwise, just think of The Shadow Stone as an ancient human artifact of great shadowy power. Shar is a keen observer and very interested in this Stone, but unwilling to prevent the use of shadow magic to those mages who are good, chaotic or neutral. The more evil, good and chaotic wizards and sorcerers Shar has using her weave, the better. This Shadow Stone somehow prevents the knowledge of Shar at all. Look up the hero of the book ..... Aeron Morieth,,, he's a Half elf Wizard 13/ Shadow Adept 3. |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin03-01-08, 10:38 PM | It was a pretty good novel--I'd recommend reading it if you are so interested in the Shadow Stone. |
| Lord Karsus03-02-08, 12:41 AM | -Keep in mind that the Shadow Stone was created before the Shadow Weave existed, and Shadow Magic was unaligned, and in no way, shape or form, related to a 'Shadow Weave' until 3e and the Shadow Weave retcon. |
| Green Elven Vampire03-02-08, 01:20 PM | -Keep in mind that the Shadow Stone was created before the Shadow Weave existed, and Shadow Magic was unaligned, and in no way, shape or form, related to a 'Shadow Weave' until 3e and the Shadow Weave retcon. Most 2ED FR players pretty much know that, but I figured I'd give him the 3ED retcon to avoid confusion, though technically I'm still confused as to the mechanics and history and use of the Shadow Stone. Rich Baker needs more on Aeron Morieth and The Shadow Stone. |

| Shemeska the Marauder03-04-08, 02:21 AM | As I recall, the novel in question was originally written as a Birthright novel, but then rewritten/adapted as an FR novel, so it's probably not likely that we'll see much more picked up on the information it contained. |
| Old Sage03-04-08, 08:06 AM | The 'loth is indeed correct. The *Shadow Weave* was actually also created in 2e because The Shadow Stone novel was written in 2e -- it was originally a BIRTHRIGHT novel that later got tacked onto FR. The FRCS merely 'canonised' the concept of the Shadow Weave in the Realms... a concept that was already at play in The Shadow Stone. It's inclusion in 3e... merely gave it a more solid grounding in the Realmslore. |
| Telagaunt03-04-08, 11:54 PM | Also just a sidenote, the 3.0 FRCS on the topic of the Shadow Stone (I forget what page, but it's in the index pages), also states the Shadow Stone was a Shadow Weave artifact. Everything else that's been said other people have, other than that, there's no other 'source' material on the subject lol or 3.5/4.0 information. |
