| lavekkia06-01-07, 09:02 PM | Officially not. Greenwood in his replies on Candlekeep stated that SW users lose access to spellfire and that Shar does not grant an equivalent of spellfire to his followers. Some homebrew implementations of "Shadow fire" has been created, you should search the boards. EDIT: you should also note that SW is not optimal for evocation effects (like spellfire). A variant of spellfire that perform some necromantic attack and an enchantment secondary effect would be better. |

Spellfire is a stronger version that only those who were born with the talent can tap into. They are technically the same thing in different incarnations. |
| Old Sage06-01-07, 11:26 PM | Ed has said that there is no Shadow Weave version of Spellfire, just renderings that might "look" like Spellfire... but it is not Spellfire. From Ed - "Shar CAN grant her followers corrupted versions of the same powers Mystra gives, but darkfire and the like are mere shadows of Mystra’s boons, not equivalents. So, there’s no “dark” version of spellfire or the silver fire, despite the claims of Shar or her clergy to the contrary, just inferior unleashings." |

Ahh, so the shadow weave in inherently inferior to the weave correct? |

Two things: 1st so spellfire is pure weave not pure magic? 2nd which book is this addressed in, WOTC not novel? |

Spellfire is refined raw magic, or something along these ways; it depends which sourcebook you look at; a gift directly from Mystra. (actually the real gift is the ability to wield spellfire - a thing that not even FRCS point out adequately). Shar give no one such gift (the ability to wield directlly raw magic using the SW as a conduit), Greenwood pretty much explained why in his Candlekeep replies. |
