Specialty Priests [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-21-07, 10:01 PM Now, I've always been a 2E kinda guy, probably since that's what I was brought up on, just as those who played 1E before me hated 2E and I thought 1E sucked, and just as you all think 3E is the greatest, and likely hate 2E and will hate 4E...

Ok I'm digressing...

So, there are many things I'm not fond of about 3E but what has got to take the cake is the lack of FR specialty priests. I play clerics first an foremost. It appeared at first that they attempted to compensate (sort of) with the Faiths and Pantheons book, where the faiths began to get prestige classes. Unfortunately, only a few of the faiths were covered. Long I hoped that another supplement would appear to detail the remaining 100+ prestige classes, but I was to be disappointed.

Please, lets see a renaissance of specialty priest in 4E. Their powers, each unique far beyond what simple domain spells offered, made for some of the most interesting roleplaying opportunities, and always allowed me to keep my character options fresh.

12-21-07, 11:07 PM -I remade all of the specialty priests of the Seldarine and Anti-Seldarine in Elves of Faerūn.

-And, note, I like 3e and 2e as well (the mechanical aspects of 3e and the lore format of 2e).

12-21-07, 11:20 PM I was brought up on 1e and kind of like 3e more than 2e mechanics wise. Though in fairness, I never really played 2e much. The specialty priest were cool sure, but now their just PrCs and I suppose, will be "paragon paths" in 4e

12-21-07, 11:23 PM -The optimal thing for Specialty Priests would be substitution levels, but I never really figured out how to work those, and I just like PrCs better.

12-22-07, 12:05 AM I've made three Specialty Priests in the last month in the Classes & Races forum. One is for Erevan Ilesere, another for Brandobaris and the last for Baravar Cloakshadow. Check them out.

12-22-07, 10:09 AM Faiths and Avatars, Demihuman Deities, and Powers and Pantheons are my 3 favorite 2nd ed books, hands down!

Its simply too time consuming to remake all of the specialty priests, but I still have all three books, and I remake them for 3rd as the need arises. For instance, I just remade the Sensate (specialty priest of Sharess) as a prestige class for a player in my current game.
