| 18DELTA01-14-08, 03:12 PM | Is it true that Talos and Gruumsh are one and the same ? If so, where did anyone see that ? -Yep...Rich Baker called it. He said they were both One Eyed Gods of Destruction. So why have two when they can be merged into One, One Eyed God of Destruction. -The Elf Article said some Elves worship Gruumsh...WTF!?!?!? LORD DELTA:behold: |
| Kenzuki01-14-08, 03:19 PM | I hope it's at least a recent developement and not some retcon "oh they were always the same" |

| Leopold_Humperdinck01-15-08, 01:02 AM | This makes me sad. I have only been a fan of the Forgotten Realms for a few months, but I can't help feel that they are trashing a lot of stuff I would have found exciting. I hope 3rd Edition materials won't be too hard to find, because I don't want to lose all of the fantastic information 4th Edition seems to be throwing out of the window. |
| Gray Richardson01-17-08, 05:12 PM | Rich Baker was not quoted correctly above. His exact quote was: Yes. Gruumsh and Talos are both one-eyed dudes who want to be the god of destruction. I'm just sayin'....In response to the question:So, question for the Designer: Will there be any non-human deities we're familiar with that will replace a Faerunian deity or be adopted into the pantheon? We can't be sure from this what he is hinting at. I personally take it to mean that Gruumsh and Talos come into conflict sometime after the Spellplague and one kills or absorbs the other. Presumably Gruumsh wins out over Talos. It maybe that Gruumsh will maintain the Talos persona as an alias. Or maybe Talos will just be dead and Gruumsh will demand fealty from Talos's worshippers. I don't know for sure, there's a lot of different ways they could go with this. We will just have to wait and see. |
| XHereticX01-19-08, 09:28 AM | Talos absorbed by an orc deity. LAME!!! Damn it, is WoTC intentially trying to destroy FR's iconic gods and replace them with core ripoffs. I woudn't have minded as much if Gruumsh got absorbed by Talos (never like the orc gods much in the first place). |
| Gray Richardson01-20-08, 04:28 AM | That's not impossible. Perhaps Talos will be the one that defeats Gruumsh, but maintains Gruumsh's persona and answers the prayers of his orc worshippers using the name of Gruumsh as an alias. Gruumsh is an interloper deity anyway, so should it come to a direct clash, Talos may have the upper hand due to his home-team advantage. Although, given the events in the latest Salvatore novel, orcs seem to be organizing & waxing in power in Faerūn. Their star is on the rise. So if Gruumsh were to make a play against Talos, now is as good time as any. But then again, maybe Talos already did away with Gruumsh, and perhaps the fact that the orcs are growing and doing so well is due in part to Talos's leadership and influence. The orcs would not necessarily know Talos had capped Gruumsh if Talos were to adopt the Gruumsh alias. There are lots of ways to spin this. I am curious how this will all shake out. |
| selunatic239701-20-08, 07:14 AM | Did any one catch the bit in the 4ED blurb about Sehenine/Selune=full moon and Lolth =new moon? Hmm, If Lolth is now the elven new moon goddess in 4ED, and sehenine is now apparently selune and the full moon goddess... Does that mean Lolth is actually Shar? Since the new moon is really no moon at all... Boy am I glad I stick to 1ED, all the dumbing down is really...dumb. |
| Lord Karsus01-20-08, 07:31 AM | Gruumsh is an interloper deity anyway, so should it come to a direct clash, Talos may have the upper hand due to his home-team advantage. -Talos has few allies, unlike Gruumsh, who has an entire pantheon that serves him (however begrudgingly). |
