You can't teleport due to being blocked i think, and would planeshift really work since you're already there? In FR does Tiamat still gaurd the entrance to Dis? If so how is a thesisble way to get around a god since you can't kill'em in FR? |

You can't teleport due to being blocked i think, and would planeshift really work since you're already there? The River Styx directly connects to Avernus and Stygia. Otherwise each of the layers is connected to the adjacent upper and lower layer (as it applies) by way of portals. Of course each of the portals is strictly guarded and regulated by the Baatezu, and access to them requires either the proper paperwork from the applicable Baatorian ministry, the permission of the ruling Lord of the layer being entered, or somehow sneaking past or bribing the guards. Otherwise you can find a portal from another plane that goes deeper into Baator. Sigil, the Infinite Staircase, and Yggdrasil would be examples of where to find such portals. You could also bypass some of the layers by gaining access to the domain of one of the deities who reside in Baator such as Sekolah, Hecate, Set, etc and once in their deific domain exiting it onto the larger layer that their domain sits within. However deities do not want to anger the ruling fiends, and they're not always likely to allow their realms to be used as loopholes to the fiends' security, especially if it might come back to haunt them later. In FR does Tiamat still gaurd the entrance to Dis? If so how is a thesisble way to get around a god since you can't kill'em in FR? She always has, and I see no valid reason to alter the situation. Tiamat's lair, the surrounding region of Avernus, and the gate to Dis are described and mapped in the 2e module 'Fires of Dis', and to a slightly lesser degree of detail in the 3.5 Fiendish Codex II. Tiamat's lair is adjacent to the gate somewhat, so you don't have to directly go through her to gain access to it. Plus her relationship with the Baatezu can be somewhat fickle, alternating between frosty and pleasant, and so at times she'll simply turn a blind eye to traffic through the gate. |

| Shemeska the Marauder03-20-07, 01:18 AM | Ahhh, thats relieving some of my woes. I couldn't find where the River started from. It connects those two layers of Baator, and also connects to (at a minimum) the top layer of every other lower plane. The Marraenoloths may have access to tributaries of the river seeping into deeper sections of the other lower planes as well. There may also be a rumored connection into Sigil, or a portal in Sigil that periodically opens into the Styx, but there's no firm proof. |

In volume IV, Tiamat's Cave of Greed is described continuing to volume V, which describes the Iron City of Dis. Gray is a master of Realmslore. I highly recommend it. http://www.candlekeep.com/compendium/ |
