| Jax_Nightstalker03-06-07, 04:01 PM | Well we discussed alot about the Demigods in the Realms so now I thought we move on to the Lesser gods. But I'm going to expand it a little bit to include just about all of them in all the Pantheons. Like with a few of the demigods some of the Lesser gods tasted greater power before in their past before fallin in status. But tell me what you think, who will in time maybe move up or be cast into that pile of bones with the other dead gods. The Faerunian gods Auril Azuth Deneir Eldath Lliira Loviatar Malar Mask Milil Shaundakul Talona Tiamat Torm Uthgar Waukeen The Mulhorandi gods Anhur Geb Hathor The Drow gods Eilistraee Ghaunadaur Vhaeraun (presumed dead) The Dwarven gods Dugmaren Brightmantle Gorm Gulthyn Marthammor Duin Thard Harr The Elven gods Fenmarel Mestarine The Gnome gods Baravar Cloakshadow Gaerdal Ironhand The Hafling gods Brandobaris The Orc gods Bahgtru Ilneval Luthic Shargaas Yutrus (In 2e editions on Ilneval was a Lesser god) |
| GothicDan03-06-07, 04:08 PM | Auril: Like. Restricted by Talos. Azuth: Love. Restricted by Mystra. Deneir: Like. Not too ambitious. Eldath: Neutral. Not too ambitious by nature. Lliira: Like. On the rise; everyone likes to be happy. Loviatar: Like. Restricted by Bane; I'd like to see her go to Shar. Malar: Like. Restricted by Talos. Mask: Like. I think he's on the rise; I'd like to see him eat Cyric up, some, and then become subservient to Shar. Milil: Love. But I don't see him expanding too much. Shaundakul: Neutral. Talona: Neutral. Tiamat: Neutral. I got sort of sick of dragons about 6 years ago. Torm: Like. I could see him rising slightly in power, but not too much; he's largely at the whims of Tyr. And he's already risen from demigod-hood once. Uthgar: Like. Don't see much for him in the ways of raising in power, though. Waukeen: Neutral. Economy's pretty important; I bet she'll slowly but surely go on the up and up. |
| Zevox03-06-07, 04:37 PM | Auril: With her draining Uluitiu of his power, I'm expecting her to get a boost shortly when he officially dies. How much that'll mean, I'm not sure. If it doesn't happen soon though I'll be sure to have it go down in my games, and have her bumped to Intermediate God by it. Shes my favorite of the Gods of Fury. Azuth: Eh, not much interest in him. Hes just Mystra's lieutenant really. Deneir: While I like him, his portfolios and dogma really don't lend him well to any real stories or events about the Realms. He'll be in for a nasty surprise when he finally figures out that metatext thing, but that could easily be a long way down the road anyway. Eldath & Liira: Goddesses of Peace and Joy. Nice to have 'em for flavor purposes, but not ones I care much about. Loviatar: Never had much interest in her either. I mean, she and her clergy are basically just bullies. Plus the whole "pain as pleasure" thing some of 'em have going just weirds me out... Malar: Ah, now him I like. Not terribly much, but its always nice to have a patron of wicked lycanthropes about. I don't think much will happen with him cannon-wise for a while, but if I use Auril's power boost in one of my games you can bet he'll be involved trying to check her from that. Mask: I'm eagerly awaiting Mr. Kemp's next novel to see whats in my favorite evil deity's future :D . I'm hoping for nabbing back his Intrigue portfolio from the loony one, but it'll be interesting to see how else he might take advantage of Shar's current plots too. Mayhaps he can regain what he lost and nab a little something from her during her moment of weakness, gaining strength enough to return to Intermediate status and even truly defy Shar. Milil & Shaundakul: Another two I've felt were worth keeping around as options for PCs, but are otherwise kinda uninteresting. Talona: An interesting enough one as evil deities go, if a bit limited in scope of her portfolios. Her followers show up as assassins or alchemists in my games on occasion. Tiamat: Eh, Dragon Goddess. Nice to have, but she hasn't exactly done much of late, and doesn't seem to have any plans in motion for now, so I expect shes staying where shes at for now. Torm: Definitely like him. I'm rather hoping something will ascend him to Intermediate level in the near future, since hes one of only four lawful good Gods in the Faerûnian Pantheon. The Triad could use him being a little more powerful. Uthgar: Bleh, barbarian God. Not much interest to me. Though to be honest, if things don't get better for the tribes Uthgar is the patron of, he may find himself wanting for worship in the future. Maybe not soon, but eventually. Waukeen: Her priests may show up in some intrigue-style situations in my games from time to time, but otherwise they fall under the category of "worth having, but not very interesting to me." Given what she represents though I expect she'll only get stronger as time goes on. Slowly no doubt, but surely. The Mulhorandi Gods: I'm just waiting for that entire pantheon to come into conflict with the Faerûnian one and undergo the inevitable merger. That'll be an interesting event. :) Other Racial Gods: Mostly, I don't care about 'em. Brandobaris and Fenmarel are interesting ones, but otherwise nothing to interest me among 'em. Particularly all them Orc Gods - they could drop off the face of the multiverse and I wouldn't bat an eye. Zevox |
| Lord_Lucien_Karsus_Necron03-07-07, 01:31 AM | I would like to see Shar bit*h slap Tiamat. Tiamat is trying to obtain the portfolio of Entropy by granting those silly mage hating Aristocrats spells. I think Shar is better suited to take over the unclaimed portfolio of entropy. Shar might even be able to convinve those nut jobs that what they hate is weave wielding Mages and give the Shadow weave users a stronghold full of acceptance! :) Weankeen? I dont know about her! |

Malar:: kinda liked but worryosme. he is right now aiming Garagus lie a loose canon to get the cities out of the north. Eilistraee:: She is beomeing more powerful by trying to get surface elves and drow to intrebreed to help the drow to become more good. if you can not tell yet my group mainly plays in the silver marches area and deals with those god. |
| bloodtalon03-07-07, 03:03 PM | i for got about Uthgar:: he is in a battle against Garagus for the tribes of babarians. Garagus is now using them with thier beliefs about might is right to rage a war against tempus and Uthgar is just an unfortanate victem. alot of the younger ones saw that he did nothing when the black lions left the faith to become like the weak city folk and went to Garagus to regain thier homeland they believe is being stolen from them. |
| Nocci03-07-07, 05:15 PM | Fenmarel Mestarine - I wouldn't mind him going up in the ranks. But I'm biased. Eilistraee - Definitely needs a bump upward. May get one with the recent events in novels... Ghaunadaur - Stays. Very interesting deity, but come on who wants to worship ooze and slime? J/K! Vhaeraun - Better come back strong!!! |

Garagus is kind of stupid. I think the Red Knight will kill him off with the help of Uthgar! |
| Soltares03-07-07, 08:28 PM | Auril - I'm a big fan of Auril. She's one of my favorites, and looks to be on the rise with the draining of Uluitu. Some sort of 'Endless Winter' mega-event could be appropriate... Azuth - Meh. God of wizards with staves up their backside. He needs to get out more, let his hair down. Deneir - Even less interesting than Azuth. In addition to a portfolio of dubious interest, his name sounds funny. Yes, I'm shallow that way. Eldath - *One* peaceful benevolent nature goddess is nice. Lliira - More than one fluffy peaceful goddess is too many. Loviatar - She fills a niche, but doesn't particularly interest me. 'People who like to be beaten' is a pretty restrictive pool of potential worshippers, I would think, like 'God of Left-Handed Podiatrists.' Malar - A bestial god of the darker side of nature is very much called for. Too many of the nature gods are either indifferent or goody two-shoes. He balances out people like Eldath. Mask - A god of thievery and intrigue is always welcome. Hopefully he'll continue to regain the power that Cyric stole from him and Cyric will continue shooting himself in the foot until there is nothing left of the loser. Milil - Fluff. Look! An endless dimensional cliff! <Push> Shaundakul - I don't even know who this is, so I wouldn't miss him. Talona - Another evil goddess, like Auril, that I love. Her worshippers make for great plot hooks. Without evil gods and their worshippers, the PCs would have little to do... Tiamat - My first impression is that she would be untouchable. My second impression is that the Realms setting is seems to be trending towards replacing / killing off / sidelining any dieties that did not originate with the setting, like Lolth. Perhaps they want to escape the Greyhawk / Gygax / Roger Moore-era holdovers and move completely to original Realms-specific divinities? If 'old-school' dieties like Tiamat or Corellon start being pushed aside by Realms-specific dieties, it could be a step towards establishing the Realms as not 'stuff added to old D&D' and more of a coherent setting in its own right. On the one hand, I like the older dieties like Tiamat and Lolth and Corellon. On the other hand, maybe they belong in Greyhawk with Heironyus and Wee Jas where they started, and the dark elves, dragons, etc. of the Realms deserve the same sort of specialized treatment that the humans of the Realms got, with their own fresh new dieties. Torm - I loathe Paladin dieties, as a rule, but Torm has always been an exception. He's the only character portrayed in the Avatar Trilogy that I did not loathe with a fiery passion by the end of it. He's good people, and in a pantheon *teeming* with 'good' gods who don't walk the walk, he's a reminder that some gods take the 'G' on the sheet a little more seriously than the rest. Uthgar - Meh. I liked the Uthgardt better when they worshipped spirit ancestor demipower thingies. Waukeen - Boring. Tymora needs to eat her. Anhur - one of the better Mulhurandi gods, but, frankly, I hate competing pantheons. The Red Knight does what he does, and while I like him better than her, I'd rather see the entire Mulhurandi pantheon go back where they came from and their roles be taken over by Faerunian gods. Geb - Yawn. Hathor - Even yawn-worthy-er. Eilistraee - fiery indifference. I find it amusing that that all Elves except Drow are masters of the sword, even wizards, but it's the freaking *Drow* who have a god(dess) of swordsmanship... For our next inappropriate trick, we will add an Orcish god of Human Bonus Feats. Ghaunadaur - mindless slimes need luvin' too! Or, perhaps not. Vhaeraun (presumed dead) - Pity, I liked him. But that's a nice place for Mask to move in. Go theify god! Get with the thiefing, already! Dugmaren Brightmantle - I prefer the Roger Moore dwarven dieties to anything that has cropped up since, and, like Tiamat, it's possible that these wannabes are going to get more airtime to push aside the Greyhawk-era gods like Clangeddin Silverbeard and Dumathoin, Keeper of Secrets Under Mountains. Gorm Gulthyn - ditto, although I still smile remembering the massively overpowered spells he used to grant his priests back in 2E. Those were the days... Marthammor Duin - ditto, although I give him points for having an appropriately dwarf-god-sounding name. Thard Harr - ditto, with a side-order of 'WTH?' A berserk jungle-dwarf with claws? Man. Get me a dime-bag of whatever that dude was on... Fenmarel Mestarine - blah, blah, Roger Moore, 'nobody does it better' theme song. God of Elves that are even more Emo than usual, forlorn and alone in the night, weeping their outcast state. Wah. Cry me a river of delicately ethereal sparkling water with subtle fruity undertones. Baravar Cloakshadow - the exception to my Roger Moore fanboi-ism. A worthy addition to the clan. Gaerdal Ironhand - also neat. Gnomes don't get enough love, IMO. Brandobaris - a great god. I like him. He's like Mask, but doesn't screw up as much. I'm not a fan of different races having different gods, generally, so I'd rather see him merged with Mask and be a single diety with different faces depending upon the race worshipping him, but if every single one of the 75+ sentient races in the Realms *must* have a competing god for each portfolio, he's at least a decent one. Bahgtru - I like all of these, despite my dislike of racial pantheons. Pantheons work best, IMO, when they are coherent, having been designed more or less at the same time, by the same person. Single dieties trickling into the mix over the years and stomping all over each others toes is one of the quibbles I've got with most game settings. It feels less like, 'ooh, creative!' and more like, 'ooh, the author couldn't be bothered to check and see that there was already a god of that in the Realms, and re-invented the wheel...' But, if axing racial gods, Malar could replace him. Ilneval - ditto (my favorite Orc god), replacable by Tempus Luthic - ditto, the Orc Chauntea? Shargaas - ditto, the Orc Mask Yutrus - ditto, the Orc Talona |

| BadCatMan03-07-07, 09:12 PM | No, it's quite explicit that it is Tiamat behind the Karanok's divine spellcasting. She also lends them abishai. It's in Lords Of Darkness. However, it's not specified who created Entropy in the first place (if anyone did). I strongly suspect it was Shar, given that it promotes the annihilation of arcane magic, destruction and entropy, and the thing is a massive 3D representation of her holy symbol. Hardly subtle for the goddess of secrets, but given that Tiamat's doing all the hard work and thinking she's clever, I think Shar's laughing on this one. |
| BrennonGoldeye03-07-07, 09:19 PM | Giggling to Herself no doubt.:raincloud |
| Spelldancer03-08-07, 12:59 AM | Okay.. I missed something. ANd I am deity lover... what happened to Vhaerun? As for my list.. Auril - As she leeches power for the Giant God (it's late sorry) she's going to get a much needed power boost. Azuth Will remain ever much the same. Though if he becomes say the god of Alteration or Invocation/Evocation magic .. he will still stay the same. :D Deneir - Not going anywhere Eldath One game that I played actually did something intersting with her. Merged her with Istishia. Sort of balances out the elemental dieties as well. Lliira - Lover her. Always will. Love the Scarlet Mummers (Murmurs?) as well. Loviatar - She's Bane's little witch, so yea still staying around. Malar - Love him for evil gods. Though I'd like to see him grow in power. Mask - Needs a boost, I agree. Milil - Like him too, but wont be going anywhere Shaundakul - Just made it out of demigod status, not going anywhere soon. Though what is with the old man image of him? Am I wrong but in 2nd wasnt he a half-elf? Or younger? Talona - Either Loviatar is going to consume her or Shar will save her. It's a 50%/50% chance Tiamat - Needs to go. Sorry Torm - Want to see him gain a boost Uthgar - Eh.. I guess could work esp with Barbarians back. But just a confusing god really. But then Tempus can be too. Waukeen - Of those on the list, she's the one due for the next boost. Though since she just got back her divinity not to long ago.. maybe not. I like her.. but I almost wish she died and Lliira had absorbed her portfolio, giving new life to Our Lady of Joy The Mulhorandi gods Anhur - I like him better than Tempus. He will get consumed either by Tempus or Torm/Tyr. Still like him better. Geb - I like Geb. I like Geb better than Grumbar Hathor - If there is a war between the two pantheos I see either Eldath, Selune, or Lliira maybe picking up her portfolio The Drow gods Eilistraee -kind of annoys me.. because everyone wants to play a good drow. bah let drow be EVIL! E-V-I-L! Ghaunadaur - don't care for, but wont be going anywhere Vhaeraun (presumed dead) - What happened to him??!? |
| Lord_Lucien_Karsus_Necron03-08-07, 01:04 AM | Actually Shar is Entropy not Tiamat. Shar grants that wizard hating family their spells. I think you need to crack open The Lords of Darkness again! Cuz guess what your wrong! As usual! Page 136: House Karanok “Unknown to the Karanoks, the power of Entropy is administered by Tiamat, the deity behind the venerated hero Tchazzar. Tiamat saw an opertunity to grab power from the zealous faith of the Karanok family, and has used the sphere of annihilation as a funnel for her power.”  |

| Empirate03-08-07, 10:35 AM | Pet loves among Lesser Gods: Shaundakul: Like an awful lot. God of travellers - doesn't this sound like "god of adventurers" to you? Also, I like the imagery and symbolicism associated with him - "go where the wind blows you"! Also, he sponsors the single best PrC in Faiths&Pantheons :P Auril: Like others, the "endless winter" adventure seed appeals to me. I like it cold as long as the DM is sitting high, dry and WARM! Hope she gathers lots of power! Mask: Doh. Too cool to stay Lesser. Won't, anyway. Gaunadhaur: So icky the DM is bound to have a lot of fun! Will always be there, will never be understood. Eldath: She's just so nice. Who wouldn't love her? Will stay where she is, coz it's nice there (by definition). Lliira: I love bards, so consequently I have to love Lliira. I hope she'll absorb Finder Wyvernspur and put an end to him. Sharess for obvious reasons. Pet hates among Lesser Gods: Loviatar: Oh no. Oh no no no nononono. Yuck! Malar: Sure he's needed, but Lycanthropes are among the least interesting monsters. Along with Vampires, Dragons and Zombies, they're just plain overdone. So what do you use his faith for in your campaign? In canon, I don't see him rising or falling much anytime soon. Eilistraee, and everybody from all the other racial pantheons: Doh, where the latter are concerned. But Eilistraee deserves special mention as the stupidest bitsch evar - a good goddess of Drow! Still, if not in my Faerûn, in canon she may well rise to intermediate, what with Lolth's silence and all. Tiamat: Oh well... I suppose she is cool in her own right, but somehow she reminds me too much of good old Takhisis. See, I played Dragonlance at first, and switching to the Realms made Tiamat look rather silly. I suppose she'll only become more powerful, though, at least in the south and east. |
| Nocci03-08-07, 01:17 PM | Okay.. I missed something. ANd I am deity lover... what happened to Vhaerun? Vhaeraun (presumed dead) - What happened to him??!? **Spoiler Alert** He apparently dies in Sacrifice of the Widow, a new novel (follow-up thing to WotSQ, and the first in a new series of three) by Lisa Smedman. I haven't gotten the book yet myself, but this sucks! He'd better have some trick up his sleeve and not perish... |
| Lord_Lucien_Karsus_Necron03-09-07, 03:10 AM | I think he's just compiling data for karsus, and his new bid for godhood. LLKN vs Xun? Thats like Cyric vs Lolth! I'll just sit back and enjoy the fireworks... Which one is Cyric and which one is Loth! Cuz Xun is wicked dumb and dose not qualifies for godhood! I mean this kid is really slow. Like undead zombie slow! I shouldn’t post while I’m drunk, but Xun should be banned! I mean I just annoy people with my opinions occasionally, but Xun just makes Sh*t up to Pi*s people off. That’s wicked lame!:D :P :D :D :D |
| The_Shaman03-09-07, 08:55 AM | Auril - definitely could use a boost, although I liked having a non-evil winter deity. Perhaps she could absorb a bit too much of his essence and start leaning towards neutral, but I guess it's not likely. Regardless, she could well be Talos' lieutenant if she can displace the b...h queen, say by having Talos and/or Valkyr take her out. There's a deity of the seamen, a deity of storms, a deity of oceans... what else do we need? Azuth - I see him and Savras as a kind of a "magical triad" with Mystra. I suppose he could get some more power by knocking off Velsharoon (whom I hate with a passion) and make things a bit simpler for the few religious necromancers. Eldath - normally I'm a fan of dual deities and it's a pity that Eldath doesn't have enough influence to at least compare to Tempus. Then again, the Realms don't see a lot of peace. Malar - he could use a boost, but the stories where others outsmart him to snatch evil portfolios under his nose (the dead three, for example) are just too good. Plus, I don't see a decent non-evil hunting deity to rival his control of the portfolio. Still, there needs to be a proper feral deity in the pantheon, and he's it. Mask - definitely. I would like him to get some more power from either Cyric or Shar (say by taking back Leira's portfolio and/or some of the Shadow magic). It's a thin line, but for a master of intrigue, it's time he managed to get something done right. Oh, and it would be nice if he could take care of Kezef. He's the main trickster in the pantheon, after all, he should get some more love. BTW, I could see him going a bit more to TN. Shaundakul - I guess he could be promoted to an intermediate power; although I don't know much about him, his interests are quite diverse. However, for that he'd probably need a bigger following, and that may be hard. Talona - I don't think she's long for this world. She's quite close to Shar's portfolio imo and she might get absorbed. Torm - between Helm and Tyr, he's pretty hedged in. I don't see him progressing much, unless he manages to make some inroads in Helm's portfolio - and that I don't see happening at all. It would probably remain an impasse. Uthgar - he could subsume Garagos and become a deity of fury. Otherwise, Garagos or Tempus could reduce him to non-existance. Waukeen - a minor deity, and not likely to grow much unless she branches out in other sectors or subsumes Siamorphe to become a deity of civilization or the like. Eilistraee - technically, the developments I've heard about make a large inroad in the drow pantheon and she might just cash in if she's willing to compromise her CG alignment. However, there's something else - she is technically a deity of the hunt afaik, and that could lead to her showing a previously less seen (and scary) side if she accepts parts of the available power. However, in between other deities (Solonor for hunting, Fenmarel for exiles and Shevarash and Kiaransalee for avengers), I don't see her gaining new portfolios unless she seriously changes her dogma. Ghaunaudar - he's an elder power and hard to kill, but I don't see how he'd get on the rise. Vhaerun - if he makes it, he could consolidate his power somewhat, yet most of Selvetarm's worhippers would go to Lloth, with minor numbers towards Kiaransalee or Eilistraee. He won't grow to an intermediate power, though. Luthic: could grow. For all her subservience to Gruumsh, her power is not to be trifled with. |
| Arbourean03-11-07, 01:53 AM | Auril: Will eventually slay Uliutu but I don't see Talos letting her progress to Intermediate Status, unless Umberlee is destroyed first. Azuth: Ugh. A god of wizards is pointless when there is already a goddess of magic. Eldath: She's not going anywhere, and ironically she has the protection of Tempus. Loviatar: Lolth or Shar will eventually kill her. Malar: Talos will absorb him eventually. Mask: Needs to regain Intrigue (if he hasn't already). He'll return to Intermediate status. Shaudakul: Too many foes and not enough allies. He's not long for this Realm. Talona: See Loviatar. Torm: On the rise. I definitely see him rising to Intermediate or perhaps Greater status eventually. Uthgar: When Uthgardt are swept away by the tide of civilization, so will Uthgar. Waukeen: Rising. I'm surprised she isn't at least Intermediate by now, despite her imprisonment, due to her portfolio. Eilistraee: I presume she's now Intermediate after absorbing Vhaeraun. |

| dragonheart03-11-07, 07:20 PM | I don't really see many deific changes in the cannon realms. maybe mask will grow a little at Cyric's expense but that is probably about it other than what ever is happening with Elistraee and Verhaun (what novel is that occuring in anyway I need to get it and catch up). SO the following is more what is happening in my campaign than in the cannon realms. The Faerunian gods If they aren't listed then no changes are occuring. Malar will soon be being killed wiht his portfolios split up between a new deity (Hunting) and Garagos (all the others) Mask is gaining at Cyrics expense. Shaundakul Will be transfering his powers to a new Deity and move down to DR0 and go exploring for new places and new challenges on other prime material planes. Tiamat - with the rage over and the dragonfall marking a new round of the wheel for dragons she will be gaining as will Bahamut and other draconic Deities. Uthgar is fading away as Garagas gains strength becoming a generic Barabarian deity. Waukeen is gaining strength now that she is back and trade is becoming more important. The Mulhorandi gods IN general these are going to be merging with the Faerunian Pantheon. SInce Mulhorand is generally more settled and populated they may actually take over the place of some of the Faerunian deities or the two may merge creating new gods. Only the ones that are major players in my campaign are described below. Geb is transfering his powers and portfolios to a new deity then withdrawing to his home world. The Drow gods Eilistraee Is growing but willprobably not makin it to intermediate even with the changes from the novels. she may pass some of that power on to a new deity rather than undergo the sorts of changes it may require. Ghaunadaur Vhaeraun (presumed dead) is disapearing no matter what is happenign in novels. whether his powers go to other drow deities or to a new deity is still not clear. The Dwarven gods no changes The Elven gods effectively are addign two new deities - Elistraee adn a new male deity of half-elves (and maybe male drow) The Gnome gods - no changes The Hafling gods - no changes The Orc gods - no changes New Deity - hunters, Rangers, traveling, Portals, Half Elves, Miners and Prospectors, Teshendale, human - elven cooperation and the protection of nature. COmbining SHaundukul's and Geb's portfolios along with Half-elves and split races of all sorts as well as Teshendale and balance between nature and "civilization". |
| Lord_Lucien_Karsus_Necron03-11-07, 08:16 PM | I don't really see many deific changes in the cannon realms. maybe mask will grow a little at Cyric's expense but that is probably about it other than what ever is happening with Elistraee and Verhaun (what novel is that occuring in anyway I need to get it and catch up). The cannon Realms gods are indeed in flux in some cases. I think Cyric has learned enough lessons now that he will hold on to all his divine power if not gain more. If anything mask will be absorbed by Shar and Cyric. Mask is kinda lame. |
| Soltares03-11-07, 09:32 PM | Torm - between Helm and Tyr, he's pretty hedged in. I don't see him progressing much, unless he manages to make some inroads in Helm's portfolio - and that I don't see happening at all. It would probably remain an impasse. Tyr is the most boring god, ever. I'd love to see him sacrifice whatever body parts he's got left to stop something naughty and Torm take over / ascend. Bonus coupons if Tyr dies killing Cyric and Mask also gets a boost along with Torm... |
| The_Shaman03-12-07, 12:44 PM | A few clarifications: - with her power boost Eilistraee just might absorb Fenmarel as a deity of (among others) exiles if she reaffirms her ties to the Seldarine a bit more. I mean, come on - two deities of the exiles in basically the same pantheon, that's not just emo but practically insane. Shevarash would probably be on his own... Frankly with that portfolio I'm surprised he's not a DR 0 champion/herald of some of the other deities. - Garagos - people think he's likely to get more powerful. Why is that? I thought that between the typical worship of Tempus and the tribal beliefs in Uthgar there'd be little room for another slaughter deity to move in. - The Mulhorandi gods: unless a deity of the Realms wants to depart, they have way too few missionaries and converts to absorb another deity. Sure, Mulhorand may be populated, but few people outside of it have heard much of them afaik. |
| Stigger03-12-07, 04:23 PM | No idea about Garagos... seems insanely unlikely to me. World seems to be moving more towards Red Knight than Garagos. He served his purpose, but as military science develops, he'll go the way of the dodo in all but the more backwards and savage places. |
| Optimystik03-12-07, 04:53 PM | Tyr is the most boring god, ever. I'd love to see him sacrifice whatever body parts he's got left to stop something naughty and Torm take over / ascend. Seconded. But RE-ELEVATE MASK! Cyric doesn't have what it takes to plan out a real heist! Mask is the closest thing we have to a ninja deity - and that's real ultimate divinity right there! |
| Stigger03-12-07, 04:56 PM | Cuz they flip out and kill stuff... |
| bloodtalon03-12-07, 08:15 PM | No idea about Garagos... seems insanely unlikely to me. World seems to be moving more towards Red Knight than Garagos. He served his purpose, but as military science develops, he'll go the way of the dodo in all but the more backwards and savage places. i see him becomeing more powerful as the barbarian nations try to hold onto thier way of live. a real world example are the american indians and this is ment as no disrespect when they saw that thier warriors could nto defect the U.S. army they went to the Ghost Dance as a way to defect them. so why would not the barabarians go to a more savage approach to drive awy the invaders by saying that they lost thier ways and the only way to save thier land is to become even more barbaric |
| Stigger03-13-07, 12:34 AM | I can kinda see your point... but judging by every culture that tried it, it would be a very short term boost of power before a final oblivion. |
| Janusunaj03-13-07, 11:57 AM | Selune- Greater Deity Status. Maybe make her Goddess of Divine Magic. Azuth- Promote him to DvR 11 Evocation deity. Savras- Maybe promote him back to the positiion of Azuth. |
| MarkusTay6303-13-07, 01:01 PM | Selune should be godess of magic, a'la Hecate. Give Selune the Weave, and let Mystra keep the rest. It would make more sense, especially given her never-ending fight with Shar (F&A, Pg.139). This would make hella sense, there really is no logical reason for Mystra and Shar to hate each other. |
| Steel General03-13-07, 02:26 PM | Azuth & Savras should combine (and possibly suck in the "sleeping" psionic diety as well) then they could possibly become Mystra's consort, and would actually be worth worshipping. Uthgardt & Garagos - Should merge to protect the barbarians and keep themselves from being 'sucked up' by Tempus or picked off by the Red Knight Mask needs to pull of the 'plot of the ages' and get Cyric & Shar to go bonkers on each other so he can pick up pieces from both. Mulhurandi: Anhur - Merge with Torm & the Red Knight then go kick Garagos' ass Geb - Just mail in his powers to whoever and leave Hathor - Merge with Eldath Tiamat - Boot her, she's not needed. Deneir, Lliira & Milil - Should merge into the uber god(des) of BORING :bored: Drow Pantheon - Lloth should absorb them all except Elistraee then they can fight over the whole race. Talk about a cat fight :evillaugh: |
| Jax_Nightstalker03-13-07, 03:13 PM | Selune- Greater Deity Status. Maybe make her Goddess of Divine Magic. Azuth- Promote him to DvR 11 Evocation deity. Savras- Maybe promote him back to the positiion of Azuth. Don't get me wrong I like Selune and I always believed she should have been a Greater Power rather than a Intermediate Power to be even with Shar. But give here Divine Magic...no! No basis for it unless Mystra gets bumped off by Cyric or one of her other enemies. Azuth is doing fine just where he is at. Savras is pretty cool, but as long as Azuth is over him he is not going anywhere in his immortal life, unless of course he smokes Azuth dumping his ashes in the Silver Void. |
| Plüschi03-13-07, 03:47 PM | I think there will be no big changes. But I hope for a little change in the Drow pantheon. I think Eilistraee will move up in Power, but I hope that she will show mercy to Vhaeraun. Perhaps his alignment is changed to CN and he stays an lesser power. |
| Stigger03-13-07, 04:40 PM | Umm... according to the stories, after Mystra was formed she sided with Selune over Shar... how does that not give Shar a reason to hate her, given Shar's rather warped view of the world? Does she really strike you as the type of deity that wouldn't seize onto the tiniest and flimsiest of excuses not to seethingly hate someone/something just because she could? Maybe she wouldn't show it overtly, but the hate is still there... definitely a portfolio she should have, considering her penchant for slow burns. |
| Optimystik03-13-07, 08:52 PM | I like the Mystryl/Shar/Selune situation the way it is. How many kung-fu/fantasy movies have you seen where the child has to finish the war their parent was unable to? Selune used all her power to make Mystra, let Mystra finish the battle. Besides, moonlight *can't* fully defeat darkness. Sometimes it holds its own, and sometimes it hides, just like Selune does. I do think it would be cooler if Selune cycled between Greater and Intermediate status periodically though. As for the Mulhorandi... Sebek is just so much cooler than Malar. Then again I always did have a soft spot for were-reptiles. Finally, we have Savras for Diviners and Vel for necros - every school of magic should have a patron, in my opinion. But when I see Azuth I think more of Transmutation than Evocation. Evocation seems to be inherently involved with emotion - clearing your path. Transmutation seems to require a lot of thought, like alchemy (think Full Metal Alchemist). You've got to think about what you're working with and what you want it to be. I'm getting off topic here! |
| Burningspear03-14-07, 12:11 AM | The Faerunian gods Auril: I would indeed like to see her get an influx of power, but siphoning it of 1 god does nto seem like enough, when he could "wake" and enlist help. Azuth: Boring. Deneir: Boring. Eldath: Boring. Lliira: Jumpy/ Boring. Loviatar: Sad SM-like tramp, Boring. Malar: Nice evil Nature Deity, fitting and needs to stay, but not grow much in real power, he seems wise in survival, but not in politics and subversion. Mask: More Neutral, But stronger then ever. Milil: Boring. Shaundakul: Where did this so called "old" god come from?, not Netheril if i recollect correctly, interesting anyway, if a tad weird. Talona: Poison lady needs to stay. Tiamat: Needs to die so Gilgeam can come back :tie: Torm: Sad, to specific. Uthgar: Has been, Should die by Garagos/ Targus his hand and be done with. Waukeen: Indeed slowly grow in power. The Mulhorandi gods Anhur: Should get his ass wupped by Assuran/ Hoar and be done with. Dont care much about the other gods on the list. :plotting: |
| Arbourean03-14-07, 12:30 AM | I wouldn't mind Selune returning to her Netheril era power and portfolio. |
| Stigger03-14-07, 12:51 AM | Actually Optimystik, from everything I've ever read on Selune, she does shift between divine ranks as the years pass, waxing and waning. Think it was Faiths and Avatars that pointed out that tidbit. |
| Lord_Lucien_Karsus_Necron03-14-07, 01:37 AM | Selune should be godess of magic, a'la Hecate. Give Selune the Weave, and let Mystra keep the rest. It would make more sense, especially given her never-ending fight with Shar (F&A, Pg.139). This would make hella sense, there really is no logical reason for Mystra and Shar to hate each other. I have often thought the same thing. I would like to see Mystra get killed and have Selune ascend to greater god. Hecate was always really cool. I would like my Shade player to steal Masks divinity and snatch the shadow weave from Shar. The God of Shadows should own the ‘Shadow Weave”! |
| Lord_Lucien_Karsus_Necron03-14-07, 01:37 AM | Cuz they flip out and kill stuff... What movie is that quote from Stigger? |
| Lord_Lucien_Karsus_Necron03-14-07, 01:40 AM | Cuz they flip out and kill stuff... Selune- Greater Deity Status. Maybe make her Goddess of Divine Magic. Azuth- Promote him to DvR 11 Evocation deity. Savras- Maybe promote him back to the positiion of Azuth. IMO the Azuth Evocation thing wouldn’t make a lot of sense. Kinda silly! Azuth was the first Magister and has always been the God of Wizards. He should stay as such. If 8 demigods of each school appeared he should defiantly be their superior. |
| Stigger03-14-07, 02:54 AM | Heh, it wasn't from a movie, it was from a website I saw a long time ago... was really amusing, if juvenile as hell. |
| Lord_Lucien_Karsus_Necron03-14-07, 10:28 AM | Heh, it wasn't from a movie, it was from a website I saw a long time ago... was really amusing, if juvenile as hell. Oh yeah I remember that website it was pictures of people dressed like ninjas doing really stupid stuff. It was really funny because the guy running the site kept getting all these hate messages from real people that practiced martial arts. His response were really childish ad amusing. Reminds me of Xun. :D |
| Optimystik03-15-07, 01:58 AM | Oh yeah I remember that website it was pictures of people dressed like ninjas doing really stupid stuff. http://www.realultimatepower.net/index4.htm And getting back on topic, I would like Uthgar to defeat/absorb Garagos, but I think the Red Knight helping him would cheapen his victory. Maybe if she helped him and he was kept unaware of it? |
| Paledrow03-15-07, 03:48 AM | Some are mentioning Eilistraee's possible alignment shift if she accepts the portfolio of... Vhaeraun who she supposedly killed. But what if its not her choice? She obviously took on the powers of V whether in agreement with V or she actually killed him and took it. What if as soon as she took on the mantle of his portfolio she became tainted? This was indeed alluded to in the book, The Lady Penitent. So possibly she has an alignment shift coming whether she wants it or not. If she did indeed absorb Vhaeraun's power then this would probably bump her up so she may become an actual challenge to Lolth. Lolth must be very proud of her annoying little girl  |
