Here is a stab at creating a "warrior"/martial adept response to the powerful Nether Scrolls from Lost Empires of Faerun.

The Resharian Scrolls

Firmitas Fortitudo:
• +3 bonus to Strength

• 3 bonus maneuvers known; 1 bonus maneuver readied – Stone Dragon discipline

Actuarius Athleticus:

Divinus Toleratio:

Acies Anancites:
• +1 bonus to Wisdom; +2 bonus to Dexterity

• 3 bonus maneuvers known; 1 bonus maneuver readied – Diamond Mind discipline

Regnator Tigridis:
• +3 bonus to Strength
• Feats: Legendary Leaper, Reaping Talons, Two Weapon Rend
• 3 bonus maneuvers known; 1 bonus maneuver readied – Tiger Claw discipline

Praeditus Principis:
• +3 bonus to Charisma

Artificis Umbrae:
• +3 bonus to Dexterity

Perhaps the BAB requirement should be higher -more like +23 or +25....

you might want to go back and look more closely at the nether scrolls and then redo this. They are usable by any arcane caster so I would eliminate teh Requirements or set them to BAB1, Martial Weapons, Light and medium Armour.

THE nether scrolls break into 5 sets of ten scrolls
1: Foundtions of Magic: +1 to saves, +30 to spellcraft
2: Spells of creation:3 item creation feats, cost to create at 75%
3: Major creations: craft construct - constructs at max HP
4: PLanar magic: plane shift 1/d & ignore planar environmental effects.
5: Artifact magic: none listed - in my campaign 3 epic creation feats - true artifacts still need an undiscovered key.

I would limit the Resharian Scrolls to something similar:
6 scrolls/sets of scrolls:
1: combat basics: +1 to AC (undefined bonus), +1 to Hit (undefined Bonus), +1 on Damage (undefined bonus), Improved Unarmed combat, Combat Expertise, two weapon fighting, Point Blank Shot
2: Missile Weapon Combat: +3 Dexterity, Precise shot, Far Shot, Rapid Shot
3: Melee Combat: +3 Strength, Power Attack, CLeave, Combat Reflexes
4: Mounted Combat: +10 Ride skill, Mounted attack, Mounted Archery, Ride By Attack, Trample
5: Defensive Combat: +3 Con, Shield Proficiency, Two weapon Defense, Dodge
6: Exotic Combat: Exotic Weapon Profieciency, Blind Fighting, Fly-by Attack, Stunning Fist, Weapon Finesse

reading the full set of each group of scrolls also raises the character one level.
Like the Nether scrolls these should be essentially legendary items that a party could spend an entire campaign trying to find even one set/scroll.

I agree that the requirements should not persé be that high to read Reshar's martial tomes. But I would link them to the nine disciplines as Salernodc's done.
Maybe Reshar still holds possesion of these scrolls. Where to find him is the real campaign arc.

I disagree.

Despite the ease of which the Nether Scrolls can be put to use by those arcanically inclined, there is no reason to think that reading a scroll or set there of can be as equally effective for a martial character.

Most maneuvers you could read therein would most likely be well beyond anything less than the best of fighters, thus the scrolls were written by them, to help further those aspiring to be their equal.

You mean they would contain highly fabled 10th level maeuvers?

Thanks for the posts guys...people often complain about the effectiveness of non-casters at Epic Levels. Consequently, I really wanted to create a martial adept parallel to the Nether Scrolls.

Dragonheart - you're suggestions are solid, but you completely nerfed the TOB from your suggestion to me.

Red Wizard - there is prior evidence to prove that reading a scroll or book can equally benefit martial characters:

The Manual of Puissant Skill at Arms - This treatise contains expert advice and instruction in the arts of combat. Any barbarian, fighter, monk, paladin, or ranger who spends one week studying the manual gains a +1 inherent bonus to Strength and experience points sufficient to place him or her halfway into the next level of experience.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I know there are such things available, I was just making the counter debate to perhaps deviate slightly from a direct imitation of the Nether Scrolls. ;)

Your right I did - I don't have a copy and only recently looked over the tome in the bookstore and to meet with its nine schools of Combatcraft your right you need nine scrolls so you could easily expand on my starter list by eliminating the exotic group and adding 3 more groups - short and hand thrown weapons, Flying combat, Advanced unarmed combat.
Maybe make each of the swords be the scroll(s) - and like hte manual of Puissant skill at arms you have to read and then practice with the sword exclusively for some period of time and then perhaps use the sword (and skills) to defeat a particular type of monster before recieving the benefits permanently so you could go on to find and use the next sword. that would lead to quite a series of adventures.

This is quite a cool idea here. The nine swords as the tomes itself!
