ripvanwormer 05-13-07, 12:03 PM	Well, he had just been blinded, so honestly I think he was busy recovering from that, too concerned with suddenly being deprived of light and vision to go out and destroy evil (though if he was doing so, the Underdark would have been just as easy for him as the surface world). I imagine him wandering lost and confused in the wilderness, being taken in by some kindly peasant couple who soothed his eyes with herbs and poultices, and rewarding them with perfect justice upon his return to power.

ripvanwormer 05-13-07, 03:49 PM	More Biblical, perhaps? I think I was somewhat influenced by the story of Samson, though there wasn't a kindly peasant couple in that story. I'm thinking of something else, too, the mythic themes of hospitality and so on, where the gods visit a family and are rejected and punish them, and then visit another family and are accepted and reward them.

When talking about Torm and Bane, it states: Torm stayed true to his duty. He defended the city of Tantras from Bane and died in battle with the Black Lord. However, because he was true to his own ethos, Ao raised him back up to godhood at the end of the Avatar Crisis. I completely agree that Torm was doing his duty, and have no problem with his being raised to godhood once again. Bane's porfolio included Strife, Hatred and Tyranny. In my mind, stealing the tablets, attacking Shadowdale and then Tantras, and all the ensuing chaos is completely in line with this portfolio. He was doing nothing more than his job. So why wasn't he brought back? With a god of Bane's caliber, you really need to expect that sort of planning and problems. Ao has no reason to take offense and should have been brought back. We never really needed Cyric as a god. Look at what happened to him: obsessed with kelemvor to the point of losing death, drove himself crazy and destroyed his only worthwhile city... And now that Bane is back, why is Cyric still around? Bane should take him out one night... Invite him out to a drink at the local bar, get him all riled up about mystra, kelemvor and the other gods, play a few drinking games maybe (cheating all the way of course) and as he attempts to teleport home, backstab him in the back... Just my thoughts of course

So why wasn't he brought back? Because he was one of those who stole the tablets in the first place. In line with his portfolio or not, that was a big violation of Ao's orders, so he (and Mykrul and Bhaal) got punished for it. We never really needed Cyric as a god. Agreed. Zevox
Mad Mage 05-15-07, 12:59 AM	My idea on the Maimed God during the ToT: Tyr made his appearance in the body of a morally corrupt judge in Calimport, who - as a measure of the Even-Handed's possession of his body - had lost the use of his eyes. During his tenure, he used his divine moral basis as a mean to at least flex some righteous justice, bringing a short-lived apex of social equality amongst the higher powers in the decadent city. This also helped to strengthen Tyr's worship in that southern region. Unfortunately, after the Godswar had ended, few could truly see the possessed man for what he was then, and only for what he was before, slaying him in a mob insurrection.
