I was just thinking that the benefits from voluntary poverty are listed only until level 20, so what happens when a character grows beyond that? Should there be no additional abilites after level 20 or could the DM think some of his/her own? If so, what kind of abilities would you suggest? I guess at least the armor class bonus should improve somewhat?

I would allow such increment, because the vow of poverty "substitutes" possessions, in particular magic items, and it is supposed that you normally increase the power of your magic items also at epic levels.

Normally epic progressions are made for classes and prestige classes, because that are the normal things that increase with levels. I think that the benefits of the vow of poverty should also increase in this manner. The epic progressions continue to increase any bonuses or uses per day of abilities that normal classes grant, such as rage, trap sense, and damage reduction for barbarians, so any bonuses or abilities that increase through levels shoud also increase this way. The epic progression for classes gives bonus feats at different levels depending on the other benefits (no benefits gives you a bonus every 2 levels), but since you'll get them for your class, it's not a good idea to make something about it. Instead, I think that the poverty gives you bonus feats, so follow the same progression as normal levels for those additional feats and it should be well balanced.

As a side note...search is good to have back, how I've missed you so.

My thanks to both of you, especially for pointing out that search is back! Would have missed that otherwise.
