| The_Third_Karsus07-02-07, 04:36 PM | Ok.... What is up with this? Why is it that there are only four major water deities? I am going to be in a campain where I am going to play in a crew of pirates and I was elected as group cleric. So I am looking through my Forgotten Realms: Faiths and Pantheons handbook and I find that there are only about three to four water deities. Not only that two out of the four of them are Chaotic Evil. This will not do as the rest of the crew is chaotic good/neutral. The three I am talking about are... 1. Talos (pg 68) 2. Umberlee (pg 82) 3. Istishia (pg 98) 4. Valkur (pg 110) Now I am thinking of just going for Valkur but he's not really an organized kind of deity. So I think my best bet is to go with Istishia even though he is completely undependable and it says here in the book he doesn't care much about his followers... Go figure... I find the lack of caring and nonevil water deities to be a little saddening for such a complex campain setting such as Faerūn.:surrender |

| The_Third_Karsus07-02-07, 05:14 PM | You have finally arrived....Sandaime-sama I, XHereticX, most honored Hand of Karsus, greet you:cool: Didn't expect that you were a girl though... Thank you. And well the third part had to be either a very feminine man or a girl which are pretty much equavalent. :P Too much Testosterone isn't healthy (look at Barry Bonds). And anyway, shouldn't you expect only the unexpected?;) |
| XHereticX07-02-07, 05:32 PM | Thank you. And anyway, shouldn't you expect only the unexpected?;) How can I expect the unexpected when it is unexpectable? :P I'm a horny 15 year old male, don't expect too much. Also, I assume you know Lord Karsus and Karsus the Mad? |
| MarkusTay6307-02-07, 05:59 PM | Deep Sashelas is open to all worshippers, not just Elves. In fact, in MM he is listed with the 'Sea Gods', not the Elven Pantheon. Trishina, his consort, is a pacifist, and therefore not a good choice. Eadro would be a weird choice, but he is the Merman god. Panzuriel is open to all worshippers as well, but he is pretty damn evil. Sekolah would be really weird, but his portfolio of raiding and butchery fits pirates well. In K-T there is a god known as "The Sea Lord", and he is venerated by Wako (pirates) and sailors alike. This may be an alias for Deep Sashelas mentioned above. Hakiyah of the Sea Breezes is normally only worshipped by sailors in Zakhara. Her faith of quiet contemplation does not sound like a good fit for pirates, though. She is sister to Haku, Master of the Desert Wind. Gods listed in Pirates of the Fallen Stars as official Pirate Faiths - Assuran of the Three Thunders is known as Hoar elsewhere, but his worship is uncommon. Auril is normally only venerated in the Moonsea, and perhaps in the Great Ice Sea and amongst the Rauthym. Cyric has a very large Pirate following. Gond has a small following, mostly amongst the smiths and armsmasters of the ships. Helm is worshipped primarily by Privateers. Istishia "is NOT particularly worshipped, but petitions to this Elemental Lord to placate Umberlee feature prominently in the traditional ship-launching rituals of the Ineer sea". - direct quote Leira is popular amongst pirates with a flair for stealth. Loviatar has long been worshipped by pirates with a sadistic streak. Malar is popular amongst pirates, strangely enough. His 'hunter' aspect suits them well. Mask is not popular amonst the pirates themselves, but rather their contacts and fences in port. Selune is worshipped by ALL sailors because she is a boon to navigation, but her innate philosophy is not compatible with most pirates. Shar has some worshippers, but is not popular (dark seas are hard to navigate by). Talona is not worshipped, but her servants like to provide poisons to pirates, and occasionally spread some scurvy. Talos is very popular amongst pirates. Many of the Bane worshippers that didn't like Cyric after the ToT turned to him. Tempus has a decent following as well, but his priests do not wear the platmail common amongst others of their order (drowning is never a good thing). Tymora is also worshipped by many pirates and privateers, and is the patron deity of Cormyr's Freesails. Umberlee is more feared then worshipped, especially after the ToT. She was stuck on the Pirate Isles, and spent most of her time killing pirates out of anger. Since then, her priesthood has fallen way off in the Sea of Fallen Stars. Waukeen is worshipped by a few pirates. In 3e this could be considered a 'Heresy', because this group feels they are acting on her behalf to punish 'bad' merchants. Thats it. ;) |
| The_Third_Karsus07-02-07, 10:32 PM | How can I expect the unexpected when it is unexpectable? :P ? Oh boy... I'm a horny 15 year old male, don't expect too much. Also, I assume you know Lord Karsus and Karsus the Mad? I know them from around the boards. Karsus the Mad is super cool to me but for some reason Lord Karsus always tends to snub me by saying I stole his name and all. That boy needs to chill. I'll admit he doesn't seem so nice. Or at least not that much to me. He does always have a lot to say though... But whatever :D I'll take it with stirde Kido. Gods listed in Pirates of the Fallen Stars as official Pirate Faiths - Hmm... I never knew that book exsited. Thanks. The big thing is that I want a god who will give me the water or maybe storm domain. |
| Lord Karsus07-03-07, 12:49 AM | ...Lord Karsus always tends to snub me by saying I stole his name and all. That boy needs to chill. I'll admit he doesn't seem so nice. Or at least not that much to me. He does always have a lot to say though... But whatever :D I'll take it with stirde Kido. -You kind of did. You are my only female clone, though. -Your first post here was something along the lines of "LK and KtM, you back and forth is pretty funny, so I'll be The-Third-Karsus, or something to that effect." -But, for the record, no, I don't have anything against you. |
| MarkusTay6307-03-07, 01:13 AM | Read my sig... in my first post. ;) Ya know Cable from X-Men? Thats Me. :fett: |
| KarsusAspectOfZsych07-03-07, 03:55 AM | What Lord Karsus? No reaction to me? Or is it that you fear being near me like any other ordinary aspect? LOL. |
| Lord Karsus07-03-07, 10:18 AM | Read my sig... in my first post. ;) Ya know Cable from X-Men? Thats Me. :fett: -Get to work, then! ;) What Lord Karsus? No reaction to me? Or is it that you fear being near me like any other ordinary aspect? LOL. -I just logged you in the book with the other clones. You are clone number fifteen, congratulations. |
| XHereticX07-03-07, 07:31 PM | I guess she is supposed to represent your feminine aspects. |
| The_Third_Karsus07-03-07, 11:12 PM | -Your first post here was something along the lines of "LK and KtM, you back and forth is pretty funny, so I'll be The-Third-Karsus, or something to that effect." -But, for the record, no, I don't have anything against you. Uh I don't ever remember saying that but I wouldn't doubt it. I remember only talking to KtM not you. And anyway it's good to know that you don't have beef with me. And by the way, just because I worked for the government doesn't make me a clone there pal... Read my sig... in my first post. ;) Ya know Cable from X-Men? Thats Me. :fett: Aww man... :P What Lord Karsus? No reaction to me? Or is it that you fear being near me like any other ordinary aspect? Another karsus eh? Were becoming like Roaches... Really big mutated Roaches...:weep: I guess she is supposed to represent your feminine aspects. Indeed. While the other Karsii only thought about possible relations with other highly attractive men I have the realtionships with the highly attractive men. No but really... Somebody has to organize the scrolls, books, color code the potions and just keep then encalve tidy... Nothing worse then a messy enclave...:nonono: -Get to work, then! ;) Dude make up your mind already! I thought I was cool? |
| MerrikCale07-03-07, 11:42 PM | I guess she is supposed to represent your feminine aspects. I could say something funny about that, but I won't |

| Lord Karsus07-04-07, 05:59 PM | -You really should. It might help us uncover more deities of the waves. |
| XHereticX07-04-07, 06:02 PM | I could say something funny about that, but I won't I command you to be silent Disney boy:emp: Whatever, the zaniest deity of water is Zeboim. |
| The_Third_Karsus07-04-07, 11:51 PM | I could say something funny about that, but I won't Well I'm glad you could considering it was supposed to be a joke.:P I could say something funny about that, but I won't Ditto.;) -You really should. It might help us uncover more deities of the waves. You sir, are very sarcastic. I don't see you contributing to my question. :P |
| Micheal_Roele07-06-07, 10:35 AM | Just go with Umberlee. That way everytime they are dividing shares of plunder you get to say cool lines like: - "Arrrr, the Goddess now demands her share in addition, or you'll be dancin with the Sharks.." - "Arrrr, there be no healin for you dawgs today....the Goddess is being a fickle lover...unless you give her another share of the treaure..." - "Arrr, the sea won't calm me lads, until you've sunk the goddess' enemy the Good Ship Feathersword and his blasted dancin crew....and given her his treasure." - "Aye Captain, but you owe the goddess a debt for rescuing you from Talos' nasties, so she will be needing another share of treasure..." - "I know it ain't fair lads, but the sea is a harsh mistress, and none is harsher than Umberlee. The goddess will spare ye another drowning storm, but she'll be needing another share of treasure....and the cabin boy tossed over as well. The goddess will be needin his share since he has no use for it..." - "Well lads, I know we been a bit down on our luck, our last captain and ship having a bad spell with a Sea Dragon, but the goddess smiles on us, it turns out, I have quite a bit of coin stashed away, gifts from the goddess I would say....and I have been chomping at the bit to become the captain..." |
| MarkusTay6307-06-07, 11:49 AM | "Hey! Watcha ya think yer doin'? Don't throw me to Umberlee! Arrrrrrrrrrrr....." ;) |

Pirates do love their plunder don't they! Can't do it though. She's to evil for it to flow with the crew. Thanks for the jokes though man... :D "Hey! Watcha ya think yer doin'? Don't throw me to Umberlee! Arrrrrrrrrrrr....." ;) :D |
| Darakhoranon07-06-07, 04:37 PM | If you told us more about your shipmates, we might be able to offer better advice on which god might be a good patron for your cleric, The_Third_Karsus. If you have trouble with annyoing clones of Karsus (Which one of you is the "real" one?) showing up every other day, I suggest taking a look at this: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=734636 |

Our lost third, who we believe to currently be a Beholder Mage, is out there, somewhere, wandering the planes. |
| The_Third_Karsus07-06-07, 09:19 PM | If you told us more about your shipmates, we might be able to offer better advice on which god might be a good patron for your cleric, The_Third_Karsus. That is very true. (Also thank you for coing in here to help me and not to crack jokes and call me a clone. You are one of the few here who are trying to help me and I thank you and everyone else who actually is.:) ) Anyway, the party looks like this so far: One CN bard, one CN rogue, one LN wizard, one NG druid, one LN Monk, one CG fighter, and then there would be myself who's alignment really depends on the god I choose. (Sounds like a shopping list) -Karsus the Mad and I, Lord Karsus, are two-thirds of the original Karsus. Our lost third, who we believe to currently be a Beholder Mage, is out there, somewhere, wandering the planes. Why does it matter to you who is the real Karsus and not? And who are you to decide who becomes a part of the tri-karsii? If it really mattered to me I would be distraught that I am not on your Karsus list but I don't need to be in your little Fraternity to know I'm cool. |
| MarkusTay6307-06-07, 11:30 PM | You are one of the few here who are trying to help me and I thank you and everyone else who actually is.:) What am I? Chop liver? It took me an hour to research that list! Thats it, I'm calling out my Karsterminators! Just worship Calypso and be done with it. ;) It seems that there is more then merely three incarnations of the defunct Karsus - I hear that all 'Scaley Gods' fragment like that after awhile. :D Or was the 'Slimey Gods'? :P :dancin: BTW, where have your hands been lately? :evillaugh |
| Lord Karsus07-07-07, 07:35 PM | BTW, where have your hands been lately? :evillaugh -I can't tell you. Why does it matter to you who is the real Karsus and not? And who are you to decide who becomes a part of the tri-karsii? If it really mattered to me I would be distraught that I am not on your Karsus list but I don't need to be in your little Fraternity to know I'm cool. -I'm just telling you who is Karsus, because you asked. |
| Dimensional_Drifter07-07-07, 08:51 PM | Although the thread seems a bit off topic so far... I don't think anyone listed Eldath yet, another water deity. Even read something once of Eldath representing the peace beneath the waves as well as her portfolio of waterfalls, springs, quiet places and such. Although I need to check first if Eldath is worshiped in the sea of fallen stars, but I don't think she is associated with the ocean much. |
| Lord Karsus07-07-07, 09:28 PM | I don't think anyone listed Eldath yet, another water deity. -The OP mentioned that she is going to be the cleric on with a "crew of pirates". As such, I don't think a Priest/Priestess' of Eldath, who stresses pacifism , is a good fit. |
| Dimensional_Drifter07-08-07, 03:11 AM | Ah, sorry. Well, I feel stupid now. It must have slipped my mind by the time I read through all the other posts. Although would a cleric for a group of pirates necessarily need a deity of water? There are others that fit better, especially if the crew isn't evil. Waukeen might be a good deity, don't you think? |
| The_Third_Karsus07-08-07, 10:52 PM | What am I? Chop liver? It took me an hour to research that list! No I meant you along with the few who helped. Believe me I am very greatful for the list it's helped me a lot. Please accept my apology I guess I should have been more specific in my post. Got to give credit where credit is due.;) -I'm just telling you who is Karsus, because you asked. I never asked. I believe someone else did. Ah, sorry. Well, I feel stupid now. There are others that fit better, especially if the crew isn't evil. Waukeen might be a good deity, don't you think? Well I think that a god of water would be fitting because to whom would a group of crusty Sea Dogs call upon when a storm hits? Torm? I think not. :D She was my backup plan actually. |
