| ripvanwormer09-16-07, 06:56 PM | He sure seems like it with that mean arse scythe and all...any takers? Not in his 1e and 2e stats, he isn't. He hasn't been statted in 3e. And why are death slaadi CE? Supposedly they've been corrupted. Maybe by Orcus? None of the individual death slaadi statted in 1e, 2e, or 3.0 were chaotic evil, however. They were all chaotic neutral. The death slaad who works for Demogorgon in Bastion of Broken Souls is chaotic neutral. Metagame, it's so they can qualify for the assassin prestige class. and why do they breed in Carceri? The fields of the Blood War are a good source for wounded fiends who can't fight back when they get injected with red or mud slaad eggs or infected by the blue slaad's claw. It's said (in Hellbound: the Blood War) that slaadi in the Lower Planes tend to act more good, while slaadi in the Upper Planes tend to act more evil. It's all about balance, I guess, even among the most chaotic of chaotic neutral beings, so while they're on the Lower Planes they deliberately target fiends in order to transform creatures of evil into creatures of neutrality. But death slaadi don't breed that way - green, gray, death, black, and white slaadi don't have an attack that implants eggs or infects creatures to make more of their kind, so their eggs don't hurt anyone when they hatch. They mate once a year or so at the Spawning Stone in Limbo. They don't have any reason to breed anywhere else. It's unlikely that they're even able to reproduce their own kind (probably their eggs become red or blue slaadi, or mud slaadi). |

What if death slaadi were actually once demons (or 'loths, or some other type of fiend) that got corrupted to true chaos? Perhaps they were wooed/enticed over to chaos and then the spawning stone reformulated their species to fit into the slaad's froggy motif. |
| Shemeska the Marauder09-17-07, 01:29 PM | What Rip said. |
| goldomark09-17-07, 01:49 PM | Rip, you say you have the stats for Ygorl in 2e? Which book is that? Thanks! |
| Green Elven Vampire09-20-07, 01:51 AM | Ygorl is The Lord of Entropy. Chaos and Entropy go together like right and left hand. I say from his 1ED stats which I'm looking at in my 1979 hard cover Fiend Folio, he is true chaos in it's raw form of alignment. As a side note... playing D&D back in 1984-1985 Ygorl was impossible to beat even with a party of six, 15 to 17 level PC's. I could only imagine what his stats would be in 3-3.5ED. Screw 4ED... I hope Ygorl and all other legends die in 4ED!! Along with 4ED sales! |
