I've been running a campaign set in Forgotten Realms for a while, but I just picked up Player's Handbook II. I really like the rules for Affiliations in that book, and I'd like to introduce them into the campaign, but I'd like them to be more setting-specific than just renaming the ones in PH2 to something that exists in Faerūn.

Are there any sourcebooks or web supplements out that give some details on affiliations appropriate to Forgotten Realms?

Thanks in advance! :)

City of Splendors: Waterdeep lists several if I recall correctly. Think Champions of Valor does as well. Might be some others, but those are the ones I recall offhand.

Actually City of Splendors and Champions of Valor used the Guild system in the DMGII. That system came out before the PHBII introduced its own rules for basically the same concept (Affiliations), except that the PHBII approach is much more player-friendly...specifically in that you do not have to waste a feat slot just to gain a tangible benefit from a membership in an organization.

Moreover, I don't really like the idea of social rewards being based off feats, but rather your actions in-game, which can change over time. Therefore, I would recommend re-calibrating the various guilds into affiliations instead, it should be fairly straightforward if you use the PHBII samples as something to work off of, and the various guild entries for the key benefits of the affiliation.

Oops.. that's what I get for just glancing over stuff. Don't really use the system myself though, prefer to ad hoc it without a rules system for stuff like that.
