I have been reading through the FRCS and Shining South but must be overlooking information regarding air ships - like the one depicted on the cover of Shining South....

I want to implement one into a portion of my game but can not seem to narrow down any information. Could anyone please point me in the right direction?

Also, is there any information regarding this in the Eberron setting?

I'm not an expert on the subject but I believe the mind flayers have space ships called spell jammers. That's detailed in Lords of Madness but I recall them having been expected in Faerunian lore. As for air ships like in Eberron, I think I heard something about Halruua (sp?) having some but don't quote me on it.

Halruaa does have air ships, as does, IIRC, Nimbral. However, I don't recall the stats for them offhand.

Never seen much on them besides what you need to do to craft them... no vehicle stats for them that I've ever seen. Seen some stuff in the old 3e Arms and Equipment Guide, but it doesn't quite mesh with the new vehicle stat blocks that well if I recall them correctly. Didn't look all that hard though, the use I was going to put them to got kinda derailed by events in the campaign so I never really had a need to stat them out.

Halruaan Skyships were detailed in the old FR16 The Shining South tome -- pg. 22. The Skyships were also covered in the 3e Shining South tome -- pg. 56, and briefly under the 'Defense and Warcraft' section on pg. 130.

The airships in the Eberron setting worked very differently to the Halruaan Skyships of the Realms. See both the Eberron Campaign Setting and Magic of Eberron for more on the elemental-powered airships used across Khorvaire.

From Dragon #228 -

261 DR, Year of the Soaring Stars
Elven and Human mages of Faerūn devise spells needed to sail the skies in this year, and new skyships are seen in Faerūn - the first such craft outside of Halrua since the fall of Netheril."

That was over a thousand years ago, so shouldn't everyone have a 'skyship' by now, including Cormyrian Farmer w/pitchfork #2? :uh-huh:

That was written by Ed Greenwood, BTW, so it's canon. ;)

What else has fallen in the intervening 1100 years?

How eager are those selfish elves to share any secrets with humans, even ones they wrested from us in the first place?

I would bet that those spells are 8th, 9th or epic level spells and as such the number of mages capable are limited. While the how is figured out the actual practice is highly limited - we have car-planes in the real world (since about 1955) but how many of them do you see running down the road or flying overhead everyday?

Magic of Faerun also details Halruaan air-ships. The "stats" and abilities (speed, etc) for such are nothing but a regular sailing ship, except it can fly. As to where the "stats" for sailing ships are found, I'm not sure. I think Arms and Equipment Guide might have something about regular sailing vessels.

Actually, it's the christmas discount model....
However, can the Aluminum Falcon go to ludicrous speed? Or is it stuck to light speed like the Millenium Falcon?

Not only can it go to ludicrous speed, but it can go to plaid. ;)

Just don't be wearing a red shirt when it happens....
