Quick question -

I just found a reference to 'the Spider Queen's ancient temple in undermountain'. Does anyone know the exact location of that? The text references some rooms, mostly #47, but when I check all of my Undermountain stuff it doesn't mention the Drow or Lolth at all.

I know about the Promenade in Skullport, so I am NOT referencing any of those Drow. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks --- Mark

You may be thinking of the Lolth temple that's briefly referenced in the "Muiral's Gauntlet" section of the Ruins of Undermountain II: The Deep Levels accessory.

Which kinda makes me nervous that its being published for Core... I'm thinking a lot of its unique strangeness is going to get stripped down to make it more palatable... I hope I'm wrong about that though.

Mark, are you referring to the details in the entry for Karsoluthiyl of DDGttU?

I'm pretty sure just about everything is somewhere in Undermountain.

Well, methinks the computer game Descent to Undermountain revolves around something like an old temple and artifact of Lolth, yet, as my game always "crushed" after the Temple of Mask, I never found out ...

Maybe a walkthrough can give you some answers.

The game revolved around finding pieces of a spider statue that controlled the powerful artifact, The Flame Sword of Lolth, which was lost somewhere in Undermountain. Don't remember all of the sword's supposed powers (never got my hands on it), but it was supposed to grant the wielder the ability to open gates to the Abyss (Demonwebs?) at will and have control over any creature that stepped through it.

Ooooohhhh... I am so going to use that in the Undermountain entry I am doing for KT's Elven Netbook, but I'll make sure to list it as 'psuedo-canon'. :)

'Tis not a problem.

Do you require anything further on this?

No, I'm good. Krash is supposed to be giving me some 'supplementary' material to add.

I get the feeling that the temple in Und II is not the same one being used as Kyorlamshin. There is NO mention of Muiral's Gauntlet, or any of Muirals creatures in or around the vicinity of that 'new' settlement. When I wrote it up I made mention of that fact; considering the shear size of Undermountain, it's entirely possible that there are two (or more) temples to Lolth in that locale.

Especially back when the Drow ran the place. ;)

You could also wait till Undermountain is out (next month?) or ask the designer/s over at Candlekeep.

From the game box:

The stone belly of Undermountain below Waterdeep plays home to horrific monsters, dark magics, and unspeakable evils in DESCENT TO UNDERMOUNTAIN.
In this spell-ridden maze of dungeons and rips in the very fabric of reality lies the ultimate prize: The Sword of the Spider Queen, the Goddess Lolth. Stolen from her long ago, in a time when gods wrestled with the primal energies of creation, those who dared possess it were destroyed.

In the city of Waterdeep, people are inexplicably disappearing. In this game, you are asked to descend into Undermountain to determine where they went. You'll explore an underground labyrinth in this Forgotten Realms (AD&D) game built with the Descent engine. Your goal is to find the eight pieces of an amulet used to control the legendary Flame Sword of Lolth. With the power of this sword, an infinite army will be at your command, and Waterdeep will be saved.

Here's a picture of the sword. It's the "T" in Undermountain.
