| Nezyr08-03-07, 06:00 PM | I had menaged to gather all posible materials from pervious editions (still best source for Cormyr people and places), and materials presented in 3rd edition of forgotten Reamls but for one purpose: To create old fashioned adventure in a middle of a medieval country - Cormyr. I am presenting adventure background, and a part of its synopsis. Ill post rest of it as soon as ill test it with my current party and translate it. (sorry for the bad vocabulary btw) Levels: Adventure is designed for a party consisting of 3-5 level 1-2 characters mainly from Western Heatlands, Cormyr and Dalelands alike. It can be of course easly converted for a larger party, or a party consisting of more expirienced characters. Adventure background: In the times of troubles, new order that shaped faerunian pantheron was created. Gods like Mystra, Kelemvor took (some again) their place amongs elder gods ruling the mortal world of Toril. Aside from them Cyric made his way up to the top. After slaying Leira, and creating Cyrinshad (in 1368 DR), the mysterios book made him lose sanity, Cyric was found inocent because of his sanity, and thus he had never been actualy convicted. He lost however, part of his portfolio to other gods, like Kelemvor, witch is a comonly known issue. But the history and fate of the book was not surely solved. The adventure is based on history of incomplete, first copy of Cyrinshad that was writen by Zentharim adept of Darkhold during late years of times of troubles. But before he became a god, before Cyric actually read his own tome, before he even finished his work, couple of unfinished chapters mysteriously apeared in Darkhold Keep, in hands of one of the lesser adepts of the keep. Darkhold was at that time threat to all free people living in western hearlands. Aside from well known sword coast, Zentarims were trying to infiltrate, and dominate Cormyr as a new way to connect Darkhold with their eastern trading routes. The story itself begins, when four heroes from Cormyr had made their way to Darkhold, and somehow obtained the copy of the Cyrinshad from that adept. Party of adventurers consisted of : Aradera "Ravensong" Tinshar, the young wizard from Mouth' O Gargoyles, Hadriar Steelshallow - a cousin of Lord Thiombur ruler of Dhedluk, knight of Kelemvor order, Deroth Vestar - rogue, who later became known as "Storm" and Neshkar "Brightspeaker of Lathander" a priest of good standing in Lathander church. In 1358 DR, as they had menaged to prevent Zentarim from entering western Cormyr, and srained some of the power of the Darkhold, they had also found the book - mysterious and creepy, work of unknown writer. Neshkar, with great deal of reserve promissed to find more about the book itself, and its history. As he took the book and unwisely began to study it, a sudden stroke of black energy, and vision of Cyric came trough his mind. He was shocked and terrified, but somehow also satisfied, by reading it. The pain and suffering caused by the small piece of knowledge he had found in the book was enough for his friends to find the volumine to dangerous to be kept by the priest. To dangerous to be keept by anyone. Aradera had made a tomb with a use of magic, deeply benath the old ruined temple of Lathander in Dhedluk village. The book was placed inside for the sake of all free people of Cormyr. Sealed entrance to the vault was locked with four keys divided amongs the adventurers, so the tomb could not be opened without notice. The party didn’t actualy knew Neshkar had changed as much since then. He had been slowly concumed by the worst flaws of his new master, “The prince of lies”. The loss of sanity was the least of things that did happend to him. As he belived in only and true “god of deception”, he also started ploting to recover the hidden book. Promising an eternal life to Deroth, party rogue, he bribed him to join his cause, and help retriving other keys. Neshkar and Deroth found Aradera Tinshar and fought her atop her tower, witch once stood south from Mouth’ O Gargoyles village in the eastern Knightswood. She died in that battle, but before she told Neshkar he will never retrive the key, even after her death the mistery of the book will still be unsolved. The battle made also a major tower damage because of magic used in the duel between Aradera and Neshkar. Since then the tower itself somehow protected by powerfull glyphs survived the disaster but the rest of her house simply vanished it dust and heat. News about Aradera quickly came to Hadriar. He found himself to be next target of the mad cleric. Asking Kelemvor for guidance he thought of underground labirynths, benath town of Espar. With a hadfull of most trusted knights he had moved into the underground hideout. But the Neshkar and Deroth were allready there waiting for him. In mortal battle Hadriar had called for guidance and help of Kelemvor. Wounded by the Deroths powerfull magical sword, he lost all his hope. In last act of despair he used all the divine power that Kelemvor had granted him and stroke Neshkar wounding him badly. Dying, with only a few knights still being alive, Hadriar sealed himself in one of the old corridors benath city, promising to fulfill his sacred duty to protect the key for eternity. Neshkar lost allmost all the power he had before that day. Wounded and angry he had fleed for allmost ten years from Cormyr seeking a way to get two missing keys. After couple of years (1368 DR) he had returned to Dhedluk as an archpriest of Lathander to rebuild once ruined temple. Murdering the real archpriest he took his place among the folks of a quiet town. He was pleased when he found out that Thiombur, the local lord had made in his tavern an ilusion of his only true love, paying allomst 50.000 gp for it, and that ilusion represented noone other than Aradera “Ravensong” herself. He thought Thiombur must know something about her past, maybe he even know the location of one of the keys. So he started to plot a way to obtain it...
