those guys are awesome and i want one of them back and each one of the new books about hallistra and allisza has oppurtunities for them to return.

Didn't they die?

They did leave the possibility that Pharaun could be resurrected. Actually I hope he is, I found him to be a rather interesting character.

I would also love to see Jeggred come back, though I truthfully know he never will.

-I'd like to see proper grammar make a return, actually.

-Anyway, resurrecting Ryld and Pharaun would damage the integrity of the characters. It happens in comic books all the time.

For once, I agree with Karsus.

Lord Karsus, who was that snide comment about grammer directed at? Are you being mean for the sake of being mean? Naughty Elf! :P

I also agree with Lord Karsus. I enjoyed the characters, but bringing them back would definately alter that.

I really wonder what use this hot as hell Succubus has for the parts she took from Phaeraun's remains... :schemes:

I'm actually the naughty elf in the organization. :P

Ryld is long gone. Way gone. *waves bye to Ryld*

Pharaun on the other hand(or finger as the case may be). A character this "good" deserves another try.:D

-It was directed at the OP. I mean, look at that, and then tell me you don't disagree.

For once, I agree with Karsus.

-You should do that more often, I think.

As some of the others have stated, Ryld was Jeggred's dinner and Pharaun was completely dismembered, save for his finger, which the Alu-Fiend has in her possesion. Pharaun has a chance to return to the world of the living however, Ryld does not.

However, that may not rule out Ryld's Spirit making a cameo in the up coming lady pentient books. He is in the Demonweb pits after all, and his soul may be a useful piece in the sava game.

As for Pheraun, I would like to see him come back, but I think Halistras brother is taking his place in the novels.

Although I do like the idea of a cameo in Lady Penitent. As long as it is well written. So far I love me some Lisa.:ayyyy!:

Also, when or how does he get a son??

But bringing back Steve Rogers would be OK right?

Anyway, with Ryld I agree. But the series specifically lead you to the conclusion that Pharaun could come back. And unlike in comics books, we do have the appropriate spells here.

-Well, now that it's semi out in the open Aliiza is pregnant in The Gossamer Plain.

But bringing back Steve Rogers would be OK right?

-No, no it would not. Bringing back someone else as Captain America would, though.

Freaking geez man! I wasn't finished reading that novel yet! I only just got to the part where I found out she was pregnant and I was thinking it was Helm Dwarf-Friend's ugly kid.
Oh well, that is cool though.

I was just happy that my main man Valas Hune made it out alive. But I too would love to see that lovable scamp of a dark elf mage make a return appearance.

Ryld was cool and all, but then again I still haven't figured out how a drow weapons master gets done in by a draegloth and a woodsman's axe. Seriously, a woodsman's axe takes out a +5 keen superior dispelling greatsword? I think not.

Comic books do give us some ideas for how to bring Pharaun back.

1) Give him the Pheonix Force.
2) Give him the Power Cosmic.
3) Have Xavier swap his consciousness into another body (there actually is a psionic ability that allows this)

Shar and Galactus would make a good couple.:)
GothicDan

06-01-07, 06:17 PM
Not at all. Galactus is more like Talos. He's a fundamental force of the cosmos, one of the things that keeps it balanced rather than devolving into utter oblivion.

Shar and Thanatos, though...

He wasn't killed by an axe.... he was killed by a plot device.

I feel the same way though. Despite how easily a seasoned and wary drow veteran allows himself to get seperated from his team mate, and go tromping off into an unknown swamp. Despite the improbability of finding and picking up a magical weapon in a loggers camp in the middle of the swamp (and just happing to pick that axe among all the others), what gets me was the complete break down in Rylds character. This was a lowborn Drow that fought his way from the streets, and became a weapons master despite having no house to support him. His sword get sundered, and suddenly he just freezes in his tracks and lets himself be killed? He had a magical short sword as a back up. He could have fought on. He could have ran. He could have done a lot of different things. But instead he just sat there and died.

Bah, Ryld like Obi Wan chose to go down, so he would become greater than they would ever know. Okay, so maybe he didn't, but I think Uthengentel suffered a more disgraceful death.

Well one thing to factor in there, is that Splitter was such a big part of who Ryld was, it was his other half basically, he depended on it so much. So it was as if he lost an arm, of course he's going to be in shock for a moment, like, "oh man...after all these years..."

I hope he makes a cameo in the later Lady Penitent books, but i wouldn't be sad if he doesn't.

Pharaun on the other hand...I'm not so sure about a return. Believe me, i love him as much as the next guy but after reading the Gossamer Plain..i just don't know.

And besides, Pharaun Mizzrym, of all drow, never cast Clone in his life as a wizard? Where's the sense in that?
Lord Karsus

-There kind of already is- Draegloth. They are part Drow and part Demon.

In the current atmosphere wizards has created either could come back for any number of reasons. Death isnt permanent anymore apparently. I am impressed that they even killed them off.

And my 2 cents on Ryld's death. It was absolutely stupid. He was a weaponsmaster regardless of how much a part of him Splitter was. He got killed by a CR 5 Creature if I am not mistaken! Before you go gonzo on me I realize it was a novel and in novels NPCs can and ahve been killed by things akin to mice or lived through fighting gods hand to hand even though there were a Farmer but still it is just SILLY!

Abominations fit only to be skewered on the end of a spear or sword. I always found it odd that the drow revere them so much when they are obsessed with physical perfection. Then again, who am I to judge another ma..err drow's treasure.

-Their CR in Monsters of Faerūn is 5. Champions of Ruin, which is newer, and thus, is the now "official" ruling on the topic, says that the Draegloth ECL is +10 (Pg. 11, bottom left column).
