| drthvader7105-16-07, 11:57 PM | I am DM'ing a Faerun Campaign and have always had an affinity for the Underdark. I am going to take my group on a mini campaign to liberate Blingdenstone and allow Svirfneblin now residing in Silverymoon to return home. However I am finding it extremely difficult to locate any maps of Blingdenstone. I believe there may be one in R.A. Salvatore's Dark Elf Trilogy? Does anyone know if any maps of Blingdenstone are available? |

| Old Sage05-17-07, 01:11 AM | You'll find a map of Blingdenstone [with a key] in Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark. |
| drthvader7105-17-07, 10:11 AM | Thanks for the posts on this thread. Now I'm off to ebay to get a copy of Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark.:D Thanks Old Sage! |
| Old Sage05-17-07, 10:39 AM | Of course, you could save time [and money] and purchase a PDF copy of Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark for just $4US at paizo.com. |
| mugunthanx05-17-07, 11:33 AM | Just a follow up to the question. Where can I read about the attack and has anything been mentioned of the fate of Belwar, Drizzt's Gnome Buddy |
| drthvader7105-17-07, 01:18 PM | Belwar Dissingulp was last mentioned in the Legacy of the Drow series and when he comes to Mithral Hall to aid his friend Drizzt in battle. I think Dissingulp convinces his fellow svirfneblin residing in Blingdenstone to move to Silverymoon after numerous raids by drow. I think that is what happens in a nutshell, so to speak. I think Salvatore leaves the readers wondering because Dissingulp is depicted returning to Blingdentstone. Does Dissingulp eventually move to Silverymoon or remain in the Underdark? According to FR Underdark Blingdenstone is now the home to wererats and a small group of drow from one of the houses of Menzoberranzan but no mention of Dissingulp. I do like the little Gnome and those magical mithral prostetic "hands" he now has. |
| Lord_Steve05-20-07, 05:07 PM | I know what you mean....Deep Gnomes rock!!!! Their other more "Official" Name is too damned hard for me to remember or pronounce correctly. |
| createvmind05-20-07, 06:42 PM | You are aware that Bling was destroyed, not taken over but razed. |
| Old Sage05-20-07, 08:32 PM | I know what you mean....Deep Gnomes rock!!!! Their other more "Official" Name is too damned hard for me to remember or pronounce correctly. What is so difficult about "svirfneblin?" |
| Lady_Mhaor05-20-07, 09:02 PM | What is so difficult about "svirfneblin?" I always get the 'v' and the 'r' confused and fear not sage most people cant pronounce menzoberranzan |
| MarkusTay6305-21-07, 12:26 AM | I just noticed your locale... Does that make you a nakit Drow chick? And I often have trouble pronouncing many of the weird names we are given in both FR and core material, so don't feel bad. People can't even pronounce 'Drow' correctly half the time. |
| Zireael05-21-07, 07:07 AM | And we have Belwar mentioned in Silver Marches as in Mithral Hall. |

Naked Drow chick *sniggers* Drow chicks are so hot, pity they are so damnable mean.......otherwise *drools* I just call the Deep Gnome "snivvels" half the time.....As for Drow I used to pronounce the O as Oh .....but playing Hordes of the Underdark changed that because I heard it pronounced in the game as Ow |
| Lady_Mhaor05-21-07, 07:03 PM | Drow? pfft half-fiend moon elf cuz when you need help kicking dhaerow butt in the crown wars u like keep ur dirty secret weapons imprisoned in a permanent time stop when ur done playing with them |
| drthvader7105-22-07, 10:56 AM | Thanks for all the posts!:D You are aware that Bling was destroyed, not taken over but razed. According to FR Underdark Blingdenstone, at least what remains of it is still there, albeit as ruins. FR Underdark also mentions that the residents of Silverymoon hope to help the Deep Gnomes residing in Silverymoon to resettle Blingdenstone. It seems to me that Blingdenstone was probably severely damaged but still able to be resettled. So is does Blingdenstone still exist? In FR: Silver Marches is there NPC information for Belwar Dissingulp? |
| createvmind05-22-07, 11:56 AM | It was probably damaged worse than Ched Nessad which was destroyed as well a few years later, you're taking of a major adventure. To convince the deep gnomes to return to a locale they know their hated enemy know location of as well as how to penetrate their defenses is first task. Then dependant on year of your campaign the gnomes would need considerable time to rebuild the city secretly after driving out whatever took residence during their absence. What reason would they place themselves in this predicament again knowing again no support will come from anyone if they are attacked again. |

Is that apart of Breagan Dearth *don't know if I spelled it right* after Jarlaxes decision to move his empire from the underdark into Calimport? (I'm a fellow reader who has just gotten done with "The Silent Blade" awsome book!!! |
| Fillow05-22-07, 12:40 PM | Belwar stats are here : http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=7092870&postcount=1317 |
| MarkusTay6305-24-07, 12:56 PM | I would say that founding a NEW Blindenstone BENEATH Silverymoon somewhere would be both more feasable and more defendable, not to mention just plain more intelligent. Why go back and get their butts handed to them again? |
| Lord_Steve05-24-07, 02:03 PM | How big is the Underdark anyways? If I'm right it's pretty much as big as Toril correct? It would only be logical to assume there are more Deep Gnome, Drow and those lil halfling guys all over the place, and many more unknowns as well. So, why not have the party stumble upon one of these "settlements" gain allies and such and do whatever. |
| MarkusTay6305-24-07, 06:22 PM | Deep Halflings? Dark Halflings.... Darklings!!! :dancin: I have those really weird deep gnomes from Krynn living on my Toril. They are badly disfigured because they live near radiaoactive deposits, and they wear jumpsuits that look like radiation suits, right down to the elbow-length gloves. I LOVE those guys! Also, I can picture a race of white-skinned Elves/Drow, that are completely blind. Their eyes would just be useless milky orbs... but they would have extra large ears because their hearing would work like a bats (biosonar). You can just imagine all kind of strangeness as you go below the level of the lowerdark. I mean why not, we got two different races of evil Dwarves, right? ;) |
| Alac Luin05-24-07, 06:29 PM | Deep Halflings? Deep halflings do exist in the MM. ;) They are very dwarf like, but they do exist. |

Why go back and get their butts handed to them again? I do like the thought of "New Blingdenstone" and it does represent a more tangible and safe alternative to resettling Blingdenstone. Consideriing how vasty the Underdark is I'm sure there has to be a better location nearer to Silverymoon. Does anyone else have some feedback on this. It is going to serve as the basis for my next adventure in my Faerun campaign. Should I incoporate some of the heroes from Salvatore as NPCs into the adventure? |
| createvmind05-26-07, 03:48 AM | You're pretty much out of luck there, Silverymoon is in proximity to several drow cities I believe as well as old demon haunts from fallen elven empires. Many demons tunneled throughout the region seeking to escape the unknown dungeon and hellgate keep. You have orcs to the north and probably much such traffic within the underdark as well. These gnomes require several things, good air, water supply and ability to grow food and a site that can be expanded upon as population grows, such places are hard to come by in underdark and often harder to defend for nonevil types. Good luck |
