Book of Vauth [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-14-08, 04:42 PM I am running a game incorporating Marune the Masked, and in the City of Splendors it indicates that he acquired something known as the Book of Vauth. Does anyone know anything about this item, and if so where I can find that info? So far aside from the CoS, I can find no reference to it.

02-14-08, 06:59 PM There isn't much beyond what Eric included in CoS. The Books of Vauth are mentioned, but not detailed, in the writeup of "Orjalun's Arbatel," in DRAGON #92, the Old Grey Box, and Pages from the Mages.

02-14-08, 07:20 PM I do not think I have access to either of those sources...do they say anything about what the Book is about? Even something as basic as "Necromancy"...any clue at all as to the content?

02-14-08, 08:13 PM Only the spells from the books of Vauth that Orjalun copied for the "Arbatel" were detailed. We know nothing more about the content of those books -- only the arcane schools both spells belonged to. Encrypt is an 'Illusion/Phantasm' spell, and the other, Secure, is an 'Alteration' incantation.

02-16-08, 05:17 PM I could however Marune gained his extedned lifespan via Andrathath's Mask, so even if it did, he would not use it most likely....at least not that portion.

02-16-08, 10:29 PM Yes, but it would be nifty little thing. Or another one is have the owner of the book be able to apply the empower and quicken feat to *insert book's writer's favorite school of magic* spell of 6th level and lower. Or is that to powerful?
