The only organization that I am aware of that went by the title of "The Nine" was the adventuring company led by Laeral Silverhand after the fall of the realm of Stornanter and her ascendancy as one of the Chosen of Mystra, but before she became the Lady Mage of Waterdeep and the consort of Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun*.

The adventuring band largely dispersed after Laeral fell victim to the machinations of Aumvor the Undying, who had secretly manipulated events to cause the Netherese artifact known as the Crown of Horns to fall within her grasp, in hopes that it's fell magic would enspell her down a path of evil and in turn potentially make her a suitable consort. However, instead the reaction between Mystra's silver fire and the crown's magic drove Laeral insane, until she was ultimately confronted and restored by Khelben and Alustriel.

The majority of the nine are currently dead, most likely slain by Laeral during her madness or due to the ravages of time, though a few still remain, and I imagine it could be possible (and IMC it truly is) that others may have found continued existence as ghosts or other benign spirits.

*note that Khelben had previously been a beloved of Laeral, unbeknown to her, while he lived under a different name and (spell wrought) identity, during her time as the Witch-Queen of Stornanter.

what is the history of elaith craulnober...

-Elaith's origins can be found in many sources. Chronologically speaking, you should check out Evermeet: Island of the Elves, then the short story, "The More Things Change", which can be found in The Best of the Realms III: The Stories of Elaine Cunningham. Then, you have all of the Songs and Swords series, as well as all of the short stories that are weaved in-between.

more about elaines books and characters.

-Uh, you're wondering what books Elaine's books can be found it? Maybe...Her books!

-And, here's a little known fact- Elaine did not create Elaith. The story is explained in The Best of the Realms III: The Stories of Elaine Cunningham.

-And, here's a little known fact- Elaine did not create Elaith. The story is explained in The Best of the Realms III: The Stories of Elaine Cunningham.Indeed. Elaith was originally Ed's creation.

Here's a little more from Elaine -

"And as much as I'd like to take credit for Elaith's creation, he first appeared as an NPC in a game product entitled "Waterdeep and the North," by Ed Greenwood. When I wrote ELFSHADOW, my first novel, I didn't realize Elaith was a well-established character in Ed's home campaign. As far as I knew, Elaith existed only as a one-paragraph description. That paragraph appealed to me, so I took the character and ran with it. Over the years, Ed has been very gracious about this accidental literary hijacking."
