The war that ruined all the ports along the swordcoast.... err...
So they really are starting from scratch in FR, making it a real FR.. where all those old realms amn, waterdeep, sembia, thay etc.. will be just so much dust on some historians bookshelf..

Also if two realms are to be merged, then shouldnt there be a history of that other realm aswell? ;) I mean if anything remains of the fr we know about, like people, geography etc.. shouldnt there of that other place too?

Isn't the Deepwater War a reference to the Threat from the Sea trilogy of a few years back?

Yes, it is. See the FRCS and City of Splendors: Waterdeep as well. There's more than likely to be a few references in Grand History too.

The Deepwater War, as the event is known in Waterdeep, occurred in the Year of the Gauntlet (1369 DR). Throughout the year, an army of sahuagin and other deep sea creatures plague the Sea of Swords, resulting in attacks on Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate, Calimport, and many other ports along the Sword Coast. My screen name, Iakhovas, is taken from the leader of the sea devil army.

Edit: In my answer to the interview question, I said that the Deepwater War left ports along the Sword Coast in ruins. This means harbors and docks primarily, not the entire city.

I rather enjoyed that trilogy.

Although there were major battles in those cities, none were permanently ruined
