| BlueDove03-22-07, 12:26 AM | I have my huge map of all of Faerun, but where can I find some good detailed maps of individual regions and cities? Starting with Baldur's Gate and surrounding areas. |
| Stigger03-22-07, 03:24 AM | If you can find a copy, the Forgotten Realms Interactive Atlas CD is about the best source you could hope for... good luck finding it though, you're going to need it more than likely. Barring that, I think there was a find me a map (or something to that effect) thread somewhere around here you could look for. |
| Faraer03-22-07, 06:07 PM | You'll find detailed maps in a hundred-odd sources that detail those cities and regions. The main source on Baldur's Gate and the Western Heartlands generally is Volo's Guide to the Sword Coast (http://paizo.com/store/brand/forgottenRealms/roleplayingGames/2ndEdition/v5748btpy7mk6); the smallest-scale map of the region is there (albeit piecemeal) and in the 1987 and 1993 campaign sets. Let us know where else you're interested in. |
| Lord Karsus03-22-07, 06:10 PM | -More often then not, the most detailed maps are going to be found in regional products, such as sourcebooks, adventures, and a novel every now and then. The more "zoomed in" you can get, the more specific the maps are going to be. |
| Old Sage03-22-07, 07:48 PM | One should also never dismiss 'most' of the earlier city/region maps contained in earlier FR novels. And even some later novels as well. Each tend to provide a basic 'snapshot' of the main city or region that is the setting for the novel. |
| hento03-23-07, 09:05 AM | :whatsthis Volo's Guide to Sword Coast and Volo's guide to Baldure's Gate II should do the trick. Has a really nice detailed maps of some cityes and has nice descriptions of places inside (taverns, inns :pint:)... |
| Faraer03-23-07, 01:58 PM | Volo's Guide to Baldur's Gate II details parts of Amn and Tethyr, not the middle Sword Coast lands. |
| SemperFi03-26-07, 01:53 AM | I use the forgotten realms interactive atlas. You can find copies for sale on the net. I maintain a windows 95 box exclusively for it because it seems to have issues with XP and I haven't been able to get any settings to make the whole thing behaive. A good bonus is that you can mod maps that are in there too. Saddly WotC are unlikely to allow it to be sold retail agian and since FR is not the most current world less likely to have anyone licence the rights to make something like it. |
| Lord Karsus03-26-07, 04:22 PM | You can find copies for sale on the net. -Yeah, for like a billion dollars...:( ...and since FR is not the most current world less likely to have anyone licence the rights to make something like it. -Very untrue. Of all of the current D&D setting, the Realms has the most licenses sold out. Neverwinter Nights, Neverwinter Nights II, Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale II, Baldur's Gate (PS2), Baldur's Gate II (PS2), Demonstone, the Dark Elf Trilogy comics, and so on... |
| oberwald03-26-07, 04:51 PM | actually you can find alot of their old releases under downloads - old edition. Lots of nice maps and in depth descriptions there. Though the rules obviously differ :) |
