Does anyone know where I can find information on the drider chasm near Menzoberranzan? I know that Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark has a little, but is there info on this elsewhere? Thanks guys!

The Menzoberranzen box set mentions that there is three paths out of the cavern in that section and that one leads to the chasm. All three of theses paths are heavily guarded (I believe by jade spiders). Other than that and the part in Homeland when Drizzt went there, I don't think that there is anymore information.

From "Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark":

Drider Chasm

The smallest of the east passages that comprise the Eastways leads to a chasm inhabited by driders. These failed drow slay and devour all who stray into their clutches, especially prizing the flesh of unaltered drow. From time to time the driders raid merchant caravans or even a civilized area. Drow defenders and attacking driders suffer heavy casualties in such raids, but surviving driders usually come away with armor, weapons, and supplies.

I'm sure you already have this info, but it seems to me that something this potentially disatstrous or resource-taxing wouldn't be too close to the city lest the little buggers get out and head that way. But also remember that Drizzt was actually tossed in there for not partaking in the graduation orgy, so it wouldn't be so far away that a lone priestess couldn't make the trip. (After all, she didn't expect to come back with Drizzt in tow.) I don't remember how far out the city's patrols venture, but I figure this chasm would be a safe distance from the city that a patrol would most likely encounter any loose driders, but close enough that you could walk there.

Also, since wizards make a game out of hovering over the chasm and blasting driders, and since wizards aren't allowed to venture very far from the city, I'd say it's less than a day's walk.

Was there anything in particular you wanted to know?
