| TheRedWizard06-16-07, 10:00 PM | Hi guys, I have a question that's been haunting me since I read Champion of Ruins In champion of ruins they say that the Eldreth Veluuthra members aren't supported by the Seldarine. As a result, they can't have clerics because they worship the Seldarine only but the Seldarine don't grant them spells. The problem is that recently Lossarwyn the Ice Lich has returned and has taught to Eldreth Veluuthra members how to use druidic magic. But...who's granting them spells? I mean druids iin FR absolutely need to worship a nature deity....and Eldreth Veluuthra would never worship a human nature deity... ?? Thanks for helping!:D |

There were some inconsistencies with both Champions book with that one perhaps being the most glaring. That or Paladins of Selune in the CoV book. I don't know what to tell you. For years, druids have gotten spells through nature deities, now we have an exception. |
| TheRedWizard06-16-07, 10:14 PM | hahaha ok I see, I thought I missed something. Well, I read the Druid Entry in the player handbook 3.5, and it is written that they draw their power from nature itself...pretty much like the Eldreth Veluuthra's druids... anyways, thanks for the quick reply! |
| Drew1369r06-16-07, 11:45 PM | We had this discussion in another thread... they keep saying that Ed said somewhere that they receive their spells from "a diety." He/She is just keeping quiet about it. I dunno about the verocity of this claim that Ed said it somewhere. As far as I know CoR is an FR source book, and rules do change from time to time... |

| Uzzy06-17-07, 12:18 AM | Or maybe Lolth, through her aspect of Moander, is giving Lossarwyn some Druidic Spells, who then claims that they are receiving them from a part of the Seldarine who wishes to remain hidden for now. It's got lots of potential. Maybe some Elven PC's can come along and investigate? Hardly a screw up, just an opportunity. |
| TheRedWizard06-17-07, 12:45 PM | Yeah! Seriously, I think that every "screw-up" are in fact nice opportunities to investigate and create new plots... |
| The Ubbergeek06-17-07, 03:15 PM | A remark; The Faerunian pantheon is NOT the human one. Well, it's complicated. A lot of the gods in it are multiracial in fact, or quite neutral on that aspect - by example, Gond (liked by Gnomes), Tymora (by Halflings), Shar (very Underdark also) and the elemental gods. So, even those 'elven fachists' would not look past some of the faerunian gods. |

It's got lots of potential. -Bingo! A remark; The Faerunian pantheon is NOT the human one. Well, it's complicated. -The Faerūnian Pantheon is an amalgamation of all of the deities who are primarily worshiped by Humans. -Those "Elven Fascists" do not worship the Faerūnian pantheon, so no matter. They worship the Seldarine, though the Seldarine does not particularly replicate the feeling. |
| The Ubbergeek06-18-07, 01:20 AM | Good hearted gods wouldn't, and I guess most of the seldarine not indeed - albeit this rather mean minor god who HATE drow, now, perhaps... My point was a small sidenote that some faerunian gods, openly or not, are assimilated or aligned with other pantheons, including the Seldarine - like Mielliki. So, perhaps.... say... a dark one like Shar have actually an ages-old discrete clergy among them... *shrugs* Well, a suggestion to scholars to perhaps look beyond the seldarine to see who are acceptable and linked to elves too. |

It's got lots of potential. Maybe some Elven PC's can come along and investigate? Hardly a screw up, just an opportunity. Lolth is an excellent choice on just about any level one could name. Ghaunadaur is another potential benefactor. The most likely non-elf gods are Shar (she's into corruption in general, and her subsumption of Ibrandul might let her grant nature spells as well) and Cyric (who would get off on the deception of it, and since he is the god of deception Ao might let him get away with granting nature spells in these circumstances only). Malar wouldn't support elves over humans (unless they were lycanthropes or else explicit worshipers of his) and this might be too subtle for Talos (not that he hasn't tried deception in the past). The real question to me is whether Lossarwyn is in on the scam or not. If not, then I wonder which god he believes to be his benefactor. Shevarash would be the logical choice; it isn't that much of a stretch for him to target humans once the drow have been wiped out. Fenmaril Mestarine is another; the Lone Wolf can't have all that much love for humans, and he might conceivably support a group that leaves druids alone. |
