Well, everybody talks of Drizzt, Elsminster, Entreri or Cale, but wich other not so notorious NPC's do you like to see more about?
I know that this thread is at risk of becoming a fan fight, but i'm trying to talk about the characters that are not novel stars.

For my part, i would like to see more about Rhiannon Dannihyr(grandmaster of shadows), Miklos Selkirk and Semmenon.

I like the Jaezred Chaulssin, Artemis Entreri, Obould, Bran Skorlson and quite a few others.

I like Khelben a lot. And the Simbul. And Kimil Nimesin, in a villainy sort of way, and Vhoori Durothil, and Prince Durothil, and the Srinshee, and Amlaruil.

My favourite NPC is, without any doubts, Torm, one of the Knights of Myth Drannor. Consistently and lightheartedly insulting, obscene, and outrageous in his speech. That's my own personality !
But thre are some others like Dragonbait, Daryth of Calimshan (RiP) who are quite good too in my mind !

Ioulaum, Khelben, Simbul, Karsus, Larloch, Srinshee, and Eltargrim. What drives/drove them. How do/did they think. Why do/did they do what they do/did.

I prefer the more realistic hero's and evildoers:
Mirt looks fun,
Hobart is interesting,
Alusair,
Randal Morn,
Sememmon,
and others i cannot think of atm, as my books are still abroad.

Why does no one ever mention Cadderly Bonaduce? Cadderly, Ivan and Pikel Bouldershoulder, Danica, Vander; all from the Cleric Quintet.

Hello? Pharun Mizzrym, anyone? Or Pavel Shemov? Why do people always ALWAYS kill off the good characters?

Heya,

In general: any female NPC.

Specifically my interest varies and swings between a few major characters, commonly the list has included the female rulers of Cormyr (Myrmeen, Alusair, Caladnei, Filfaeril, and Laspeera), Elmnister's Daughter (Narnra), some of the Seven Sisters (Storm, Sylune, Laeral, Alustriel, Qilue), and the ruler of Elversult and her consort (Yanseldara and Vaerana).

Obviously some of these have had more "screen" time than others (Alusair, for example). There are plenty who I didn't list, but just because they're not there doesn't mean I don't want to hear about them. :)

There's simply not enough love for Danilo Thann these days -- not enough to keep this old sage happy, at least.

Hooray for Elaine! :D

Danifae Yauntyrr. She is beautiful, cunning, ruthless, inventive, tough and in the end, she became the new Lolth - whats not to love?

Countess Sarya Dlardrageth - tied with Danifae for me for favorite realms NPC.

Other fav NPCs:
Faeryl Zauvvir - She was short-lived and died a particularly gruesome death that sooooooo did not need to be written out in all its gory detail, but I liked her a lot while she lived.

Shakti Hunzrin - but only as she progressed, especially in the last book of the trilogy.

Quenthel Baenre, as originally portrayed all too briefly in the books leading up to Siege of Darkness, and in the first book of the WotSQ series a little - but then stop portraying her as smart (as they originally did) and portrayed her as, well, less than smart.

I dislike the way they portray Bonaduce, as he is a full cleric but seems able to fight as a freaking monk of equal abilities, not balanced imo ;), and i simply dislike him, lol :tie:

I like Arrkh, because he's a troll with a bloody sword (literally :D), I've been trying to fit him into a campaign but I don't know much about him. was he ever in any books btw?

-No, he is strictly from sourcebooks.

Heya,

In general: any female NPC.

Sexism!;)

My favourites would include Sarya if she'd been half as competent as she was made out to be. Other choices would include Jarlaxle, Semmemon, Elaith and Vhoori. Kymil Nimesin is the best though.

Heya,

Sexism!;)

At least I'm honest about it. :P ;)

*eyes several posters with only male NPCs in their lists*

Here, to balance it I'm rather fond of Danilo Thann and Elaith Craulnober - but they get plenty of pagetime and don't really need me to advocate for them.

In fact, male protagonists far out number female protagonists in Realms novels. (Note: I am aware that there are [series of novels] that are exceptions to this, so I'm really speaking generally.)

Why has no one mentioned him: Jarlaxle!

Come on! No one is even close to be as cool as him. :D

Most of the Cale books' characters for me. Erevis, Riven, Magadon, and Jak are my favorite heroes (if you can call them that) out of any Realms novels, and Vhostym and Azriim are definitely my favorite villains (I'm hoping to see more of Azriim in future novels). I loved Sephris Dwendon too. Some of the Salvatore's characters - Cattie-Brie, Ivan and Pikel (mostly Pikel ;) ), and Drizzt himself - are close behind them though. Plus Tazi and Talbot Uskreven, Alusair Obarskyr, and Pharaun Mizzrym all stand out in my mind, to name some less related to each other.

Wouldn't that be a PC? ;)

And tbh, I'm in favour of the sexy "Cormyrian farm girl in haystack #3"

Oh yeah. I really like Elaith and Jander, too.

Oh, and JOSIDIAH STARYM! PRACTICING NAKED IN THE DAWN!

... Besides my obvious liking of Sun Elven Males, my list of favorite NPCs is obviously the least biased.

-PC...NPC...It's all a matter of perspective.

-Cormyrian Farmer with Pitchfork #2 knows her quite well...

Oh yeah. I really like Elaith and Jander, too.

-Jander gets no respect...No respect! TSR couldn't even get his friggin' name straight!

Take comfort my dear, for males are the only gender typically dumb enough to be unsuccessful protagonists;) The successful ones that none know of are invariably female;) They're the ones behind the scenes!:evillaugh

The Usual suspects (I know its been said but Elminster is the iconic archmage)
But Also Azoun, as he was actualy much like the charicters I tend to play.
