Has anybody ever tried to start an FR (N)PC thread, nothing elaborate or fancy, just a census for the players characters who inhabit the realms?

Nothing fancy, just basic info with no expanded info that could be complied into general statistics.

Name:
Race(sub-race):
Gender:
Alignment:
Age:
Proffesions:
Region:

Kuje compiled something like that.

I am thinking he meant more OUR characters that inhabit the realms. Good idea actually.

Oops, that's what I get for reading threads too quickly. Various threads have asked posters to discuss their characters, but none actually started a compilation I don't recall.

Tru'dat, wasn't thinking official NPCs, but rather the PCs and NPCs that people have created.

I think it might be kind of cool to have this thread, especially if we could rope someone with a bit of say into it, and perhaps have them refer the authors to the area, should a time arise when they need a quick and easy NPC.

This would play nicely on a couple levels, as should our characters begin getting featured in novels, I think more people would then begin buying more, simply for that reason.

I'm up for a thread where we can post our pcs and npcs and get them noticed and get feedback on how they can be improved in fact I'll try and have some of mine up by the end of the day

Okay, lets hammer this out then, how bout (looking at Kuje's page for some ideas)

Info to be placed at the head of the post in quote box

Name: character's full name and/or titles
Level: classes with levels ending in ECL
Alignment: alignment with tendcies
Deity: primary deity
Gender/Race: gender, race and sub-race as well as templates
DoB/Age: DoB in DR with actual/physical age
Region: Area most often frequented by the character
Notes: brief info on character (maybe description, affiliations, world/plane of origin if displaced, etc)

Info outside the quote box could be complete stats and and extended description as wells as pics or whatever. However the miniumum info in the quote box needs to be filled in (possibly with the exception of notes)

I find it interesting that everyone likes the idea, but nobody is actually doing it.
Makes me think of the chipmunks from Looney Tunes.
"A most splendid idea!"
"Why, thank you. It was nothing, really!"
"Oh, no! Don't be so modest. It's rather good; I shall do it!"
"I would be honored."
[continues for quite a while longer with no action]

I'm not really piqued by the idea, personally. I felt like giving the gift of shame.
It goes well with fruitcake, you know.

Anyways, what grand title could be applied to the thread?

The Unofficial Forgotten Realms (N)PC Census

or perhaps a more fanciful title or perhaps something as simple as

The Book of Aber Toril

You are a Blackheart indeed. :P Well anyways, I think the actual thread will be entitled The Book of Abeir Toril a census of the Forgotten Realms.

Hey,
I posted my NPC Werthenna Strambilius and hope you people will like it.
The idea about a census is amazing. Congrats.
Also, I want to apologize for my English. Most of time, I feel like having the most restrict vocabulary ^^
So, forgive me.

You've just made my day! Thank you.
I'm worried about it, 'cos people around Wizards Forum are always polited, use hard words, impeccable English and I never find mistakes, errors in grammar or errors of spelling.
Wizards Forum have really intellectual people ^^
By the way, my players fought an evil captain when they were going to Amn, coming from Waterdeep, and if he wasn't Captain Hoyer Locke himself, then he was a clon hahahaha
I'm joking. But seriously talking now, players really fought an evil pirate captain from Northern Faerûn and his servants when they were travelling to Amn's capital.

It would be good to add the abbreviation of the sourcebooks to the classes noted. Else not everyone will know what e.g. a warblade is or where to look for it.

And while we are at it, someone on the first page should set up an index with character name, location and class levels, as it would be easier to select a decent NPC for one's own campaign etc..

Good Idea, is there already an established list of abbreviations for the various books, or is it pretty much go with what ya know?

Dunno whether there is an online list, but most FR sourcebooks have an abbreviation list given in the introduction.

Well there is a consolidated list of all the feats on the Wizards (” http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lists/feats’) website. At the bottom of it is a list of abbreviations they used. Why not use that? I was going to copy and paste it here but wasn’t sure if that was ok to do. Just a thought. :)

If you give a link when listing these abbrevations, why not.
