Help on Moonsea Campaign [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm looking for suggestions for sources as I flesh out a new campaign, large parts of which will take place in the northeastern Moonsea, between Sulasspryn and Melvaunt, north to Glister, and probably extending into western Vaasa, among other spots.

Obviously, I'll be perusing:
TSR's the Moonsea
Mysteries of the Moonsea
Elminster's Ecologies (on Thar)
Ruins of Zhentil Keep
H1-H4 and FR9

I also understand Sons of Gruumsh is worth a look.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

For lore on the Moonsea wilds, see the POLYHEDRON magazines in the early #80s.

09-24-07, 10:13 AM Don't forget to mention something on the Ride! The barbarians of the Ride are a cool, but more information on their land needs to be dealt with.

09-24-07, 11:22 AM There has been very little written about the Ride. You're likely to find some tidbits in the 3e tome Races of Faerūn. In addition to the 3e FRCS, see the 1e and 2e FRCS boxed sets for more little odds and ends about the Ride. Also, the 2e [i]Warriors and Priests of the Realms has a few references. There's some bits and pieces in the 2e Moonsea supplement and in the 2e Ruins of Zhentil Keep box set -- the details about the Ride in the boxed set focus mainly on the barbarians of the Ride who destroyed a large Zhentarim caravan which was en route to Glister.

And, finally, a particular favorite of mine... there's a set of really old POLYHEDRON articles [Elminster's Everwinking Eye] that do a tour of the Moonsea.

Thanks for the suggestions. Now, let me ask the $64k question: Anyplace to get access to those decade old articles without laying out ten bucks a pop at Paizo, et al.?

And I did see an article, I believe now ensconced at Candlekeep, on the barbarians of the Ride (although I've since lost the link). I must confess that the party (unless they throw a bit of a curve on me) probably won't be heading that far north.

They've got urgent business elsewhere. Heh.

One of the links on the Barbarians is here. (http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9863) Another link (this time an actual article) is this article (http://www.candlekeep.com/library/articles/torturedlands.htm) on the Tortured Lands north of the Moonsea.

Both of these articles are creations from my version of the Forgotten Realms, based on what little canon lore exists on this region. I've run several campaigns using these notes, and they seem to work well for me. Your mileage may vary.
