| ChuutRiit05-04-07, 12:37 PM | So, after having a couple of fun adventures and traveling for my party, I now want to start my first "real" campaign with funky plot and all that niftiness. My PCs are currently lvl 5 and near Baldur's Gate. I already have some general ideas for a plot, but I wouldn't mind some helpful input from you guys to aid my brainstorming (which I'm still in)...any suggestions? But since most of my handful of ideas so far a rather vague, I still can, if necessary, switch to a different antagonist/BBEG organisation without too much hassle. :) My readily accessible information includes the 2nd Edition "Cult of the Dragon" as well as "Lords of Darkness". |

There is a cell in Elversult, south of the Lake of Dragons, and one in "the ruins of Peleveria along the Landrise of the Shaar" (I have no idea where this is.). In the Land of Intrigue, the very famous blue dragon Iryklathagra "Sharpfangs" lairs in the Small Teeth mountains. She "taxes" the Amnian government, so there is a connection. You could start a new cell of the Cult trying to convince her into lichdom. Her entry speaks of one of her daughters, Araugauthos. Maybe she wants to surpass her mother and would want to become a dracolich. |

| Trailstalker05-09-07, 04:00 PM | I'm doing exactly that right now, with Waterdeep as my main city, and adventures stretching accross that whole section of the continent to include Waterdeep/Skullport, the Sword Coast, Undermountain (can't wait for that guide to come out), the Underdark, Icewind Dale, the Silver Marches, the High Forest, and other locations in-between. The antagonists include the Cult and some other baddies of my own design, to include a BBEG who I think will remain to harass and hound the PC's for years to come. Of course with the Cult, Dragon's are going to play a large part. Some of the main concepts behind it are ideas I gained from reading the "Year of Rogue Dragons" series by Rich Byers, with some tie-ins from Salvatore, Richard Baker's "Last Mythal" series, and others. I find reading the novels to be a great stimulant, and I take concepts & ideas and meld them to form what I need. I chose Waterdeep simply because of the sheer vastness of the city itself, not to mention it's surrounding/attached areas: Undermountain, Skullport, etc. It was fairly simple for me to place a small contingent of the Cult working out of the city, and Waterdeep itself provides ample opportunity for action & intrigue. |
