| Cahir The Knight of Nilfgaard05-27-07, 10:36 AM | Hello everybody! I'm in the middle of writing a series of articles about mountains of Faerun (in form similar to Volo's Guide series), but I'm lack of info about number of mountain ranges height. Some of them are fully detailed, but some are not, and in many cases I have difficulties to determine how high they are. So, I would be very grateful for some info (or at least good guess) about height of following ranges: * Adder Peaks * Mountains of Alaoreum * Aphrunn Mountains * Azzirhat * Cloven Mountains * Cold Mountains * Curna Mountains * Desertmouth Mountains * Dragonback Mountain * Dragonspine Mountains * Dragonsword Mountains * Earthfast Mts. * Earthspur Mts. * Easting Peaks * Fairheight Mts. * Firepeaks * Galenas * Galuil Mts. * Giantspires * Giant's Belt Mts. * Gnoll Peaks * Graypeak Mts. * Hazur Mts. * High Moon Mts. * Icerim Mts. * Imperial Mount of Shoonach * Jotunhammer Mts. * Spiderhanut Mts. * Lonefang Mts. * Lost Peaks * Luo Peaks * Manymists Mts. * Mistcliffs * Moondark Mts. * Mount Hotenow * Mount Thulbane * Mountains of Copper * Nether Mts. * Orcskull Mts. * Orsraun Mts. * The Peaks of Flame * Raurinshield Mts. * Scimitar Spires * Smoking Mts. * Spines of Surkh * Thunder Peaks * Stormsword Mts. * Sunset Mts. * Tching Mts. * Storm Horns * Trollclaw Mts. * Unthangol Mts. * White Peaks |

Ultra high - 25-30 thousand feet with passes at 20-25 thousand - essentially unclimbable and impassable except at the lowest passes by those most fit (or native to their upper slopes). (Himalayas, Spine of the World) 2. Very high - 20-25 thousand feet with passes at 15-20 thousand - generally not climbed or passed through except by natives or rangers. (Andes, Dessertsmouth) 3. High - 10 - 20 thousand feet with passes at 5-15 thousand - passable during summers but immpassable during late fall, winter, early spring (Rockies, Hindu Kush, Most rugged mountains of Faerun Dragonspines, Thunder peaks, etc.). Low - 3-10 thousand feet with passes 2-8 thousand feet high - generally passable with difficulty except during the worst of winter (Appalachians, Urals). Hills - peaks generally under 5000 feet - rugged but passable except in worst weather (Dagger Hills). YOu might grant certain classes/individuals special abilities in the mountains - example: Clerics and Rangers of Shaundukul - due to his influence on both travel, exploration and the air his followers are blessed with unussually powerful lungs and are able to breath comfortably even at the altitudes of the peaks of the highest mountains. Generally above 10,000 feet unadapted folks start having problems with altitude sickness, above 15,000 many folks even some adapted to higher elevations start to pass out, Beyond 20,000 generally only those born to the altitude or who have spent years adapting to it are able to function in strenuous situations. |

Try asking Ed at Candlekeep. He'll likely have more. |

I was even trying to find comparision between ranges, which heights are defined, and that which aren't, but this helps only a little. I have no choice to ask Ed for some info. Thanks Guys;) |
